Going there for the first time next month to see Gladbach with some friends I met in Moenchengladbach last year, can't get tickets in the away end so plumped for a ticket in the opposite end to the Hamburg ultras and will be on my own.

Anyone had any experiences watching Hamburg as a neutral?

I'm not really that concerned or overly bothered about their links to Sevco but just wondering if anyone has been there for a non Celtic game?

Went there for a game when they played Wolfsburg a few years ago, you'll be fine the majority bar the ultras don't even know or don't care about their 'links' with Rangers.

    They hate the Hun link.

it's more of personal contacts between folk.

I think any decent human being would welcome refugees. I really don't see how that small refugees welcome sign means they hate their Rangers links when they have a massive Union Jack display with no Surrender under it playing against us...

@richardm I wouldn't wear any Celtic colours whilst you are there mate, just to be safe.

it's more of personal contacts between folk as I said already.

As for the NS banner it was done to wind folk up and it worked.

I should be OK then as I don't wear colours to Celtic games either.

I've been to around 50 stadiums in Germany and only place I've had anyone being cunty towards me was Babelsberg who are one of these self styled "left wing clubs"

Dresden who even away from football is quite a right wing place was actually very welcoming despite me hearing and reading lots of bad stuff about their fans.

For the record Union Berlin, Mainz, Wolfsburg and not just saying it but St Pauli were the friendliest fans I encountered.

I went to the Celtic v Hamburg game. They didn't cause much bother but they are supposedly *.

Just hang out near Reeperbahn, go to Jolly Rodger and hang with St Pauli lot and you will have a good time

I 2nd that. Went to Berlin for our friendly vs them a few years back. Some of the finest fans I have ever met. Will be going to Düsseldorf to see them again vs Fortuna later this year.

Also some of the best, I saw them at Dortmund last year in the cup, had 12000 there and the tifos, support and pyro was outstanding, up with the very best.

Not being funny but the Reeperbahn was a midden the last time I went there and the time before that as well so will be heading into the centre where in my view there are better places

what about linfield and chelsea? but tbh the idea of of whole teams "liking" each other, whatever that really means, can get a bit cringey i felt like the Barcelona stuff was going a wee bit overboard

you would probably find the majority of hamburg fans dont really care all that much about who they prefer between us and rangers, and many fall on both sides of the political spectrum, its the same with ajax and feyernoord, i know ajax fans who prefer us simply out of respect for our proto version of total football. and generally the ajax fans ive met have been a bit more left wing and/or liberal, due to Amsterdam being the cultural hub compared Rotterdam being more of a big industrial city. yet we seem to aling more with feyenoord
