I think it is time we punted this trumpet Caldwell. Last night's shambolic display of defending by Calamity Caldwell just proved once again that
he is a fecken liability for country and club. :31::31:

Mowbray can't afford to play this numpty against Arsenal in what is our most important games of the season, make or break for us getting into the CL Group Stages or not.

Caldwell should not be given a new contract by us imo because he is a bombscare defender who is not as good as he thinks he is :38:

Time to punt. And for the time being I would go with Loovens and O'Dea
as our pairing at the back.

Better still, we get the fecken cheque book out and go out and get
a quality experienced CB with pace in at the back.

Dont take your frustations for the performance out on Caldwell. For the first 35mins of that game the 2 brothers were heading for man of the match.

I think it was very poor refing. I think Riise should have been off before that and Carew himself could have went. Blame the ref not the players. Caldwell was 1 of our best performers last season along with Brown

the truth is caldwell and brown are average footballers capable of having absolute shockers. They are good enough for the spl but at international and european level they will be left in their wake. Dont think we should get rid of them however. But these guys shouldnt be considered to be cert to starts for us. I just dont know who is going to captain us this season. It definetly shouldnt be either of these goons.

Punt him on the strength of him getting sent off last night and he is a bomb scare ,,,far from it the bomb scare is the club captain who Caldwell carried last season ,wrong player your talking about here.

hes are best defender, so tell me who is celtic class please. We dont have the money to buy terry ferdinand vidic etc. So who do you say should start centre half and tell me a celtic class defender we would sign for maximum 3million(which we might not have left),

Is this the real Dr Jo? :56:

Best centre half we have by a distance and fits perfectly into Mowbray's style of play. He got wrongly sent off for Scotland though so we should definitely sell him, good one.

Sean St Ledger or Christophe Berra are far better defenders than Caldwell and both have skill and pace. You would get both for around 2-3M no problem :50:

Caldwell was a duffer with Hibs and he is still a duffer with us. :87:

    Aye that's it

He gets the ball on the deck and picks passes, he doesn't hopelessly lump it up the park. That's why he fits into Mowbray's style of play.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
    Carew quote:

"It's difficult to say what i thought about playing against Scotland's defenders in the two group games. David Weir is a strong and good player, but Gary Caldwell is your best defender. He did well at Hampden, and is a tough, strong and quick opponent. It's just a case of who plays alongside him."

Having played against him twice, i think we can give Carew the benefit of the doubt, no? As opposed to ludicrous statements on the back of a disappointing evening?

Had a good season last year and i really hope it aint went to his head. I actually think the Captaincy is bringing out the worst in him. Seems to be spending the majority of his time shouting/moaning at others, when in fact he's been the one who's been struggling. For me he's been our worst player pre-season.

It was a mistake by Caldwell to grab his shirt although at the time he had little choice. Carew was all over him and this is also why Carew is such an incredible target man. He hussles and batters defender who without the pace of Carew, have little choice but to hold on for dear life.

The ref bottled it with Riise and Carew, and I suspect he didn't even know it was Caldwell who held him back. A red card for those 2 offences was ludicrous compared to what Carew and Riise got away with respectively.

And on topic who the * would be mad enoguh to sell the best centre-back we've had since 2003?

Is this the same Caldwell that the majority of fans have been praisng? The most improved player in our sqaud last season?

Get a grip and actually think about it. He made a daft mistake but as many know the ref was a tool. Should calm ursel down and think about this statement
