Can’t fault him for the move, would never of got an England call up staying was his thought. Just the wrong team to move to I reckon, if an Arsenal or someone attacking had come in for him; think he’d of scored loads for them

Stokes had so much talent and potential but he never realized it, we used to see glimpses of it from time to time but not enough.

Hooper and Stokes were incredible to watch. Felt confident in every game they were playing.

An English player wanted to leave to play in the English Premier League to try and get an England cap and people are upset about that? Absolutely the wrong team for him but cannot begrudge the lad one bit, he was never getting an England cap with us, if he went to Norwich and slapped 10-12 goals in for them that season he went there then he'd of probs got another crack in Prem, he tried, he failed, no harm done, was an excellent player for us. Sums the club and our recruitment up that we tried getting the * back years later.

Aye, he realised when he was the in for English striker in the CL, with an England coach there watching Forster and them having injury problems, without him being close to it... he had to go if that was his top ambition.

I loved Hooper when he was here. A absolute goal machine. Wish he stayed longer.

What a player he was, man. Totally * his career by leaving us right enough.

Hindsight is always 20-20 but even Hooper himself probably wishes he had of stayed longer. I know I certainly do.

Surprised Lennon hasn't tried to sign him

  15. One of my favourite ever Celtic striker's. He really was brilliant here and a joy to watch..

All kinda finishes in his arsenal. Big game player. Good link up player. Hunskelper..

I don't blame him now looking back. He's an Essex boy and moved to an EPL club an hour odd drive from where he grew up.....and was chasing an English call-up after getting injured whilst on the brink of one here. He was Norwich top scorer, despite no even being a regular if I remember right and his career fizzled out..

Only have good memories of him though..

That daisy cutter against the huns at the bigotdome was an absolute peach. Not immediately flashy until you see the replay and the bend he got on that shot considering it never left the ground. One of my favourite goals of his.

Think if we had him now and he had the same career with us he would have commanded a better transfer/team. But around that time he left, a lot of our transfers outgoing flopped elsewhere. so didn’t entice anyone better unfortunately. Totally wrong move for the guy with how they played. Always thought he would have done great at Arsenal back then

Aye, he's underrated by a lot of our fanbase I think. Absolutely unbelievable finisher, strong as an ox, big *, amazing mentality, great link-up play (him and Stokes were a joke for a couple of seasons), he had it all except height. His movement was off the charts too.

I don't blame him either, no doubt he * his career though. I bet he recognises that as well. First season he did do well down there, it just went * up when Norwich began to really struggle.
