garbage, absolute garbage:38::52:. this boy isn't good enough to play for celtic, passing the ball out of defence is ok if your'e franz beckenbauer but he clearly isn't. the whole back four need to learn to just leather it sometimes and get the ball away, the fact is we cant outpass barcelona so dont try, it gives me grey hairs watching defenders * about on the edge of the box when messi, henry and ronaldinho are about. we could have got a draw tonight and gave ourselves a decent shout for the return leg but individual errors mean that its going to be really tough, the joys of being a celtic fan eh? wouldn't change it for the world though. hail hail!:celt_2:

Every1 just tryed to pass it out and enoguh hoofing, we had JVOH up there for the 1st 60 misn or so and was doing great agaisnt their defenders in the air.
I believe we tryed to play to much cuase of what happened after the barca rangers games about saying negative football and we really could of won that i feel with a little no nonense defening

    * it, that’s enough, just an appalling performance from Caldwell. Again individual errors have cost us.

OVER 2 GAMES LAST SEASON AGAINST AC MILAN

Did Darren O'Dea ever look a fraction as bad as caldwell did tonight? Did he giftwrap goals for AC Milan?

Barca were awesome in that 2nd half!!
But we made them look that way. :54:
There is no reason why we should not have continued to at least compete just as we did in the 1st half when i thought we were excellent.

Four of our SUPPOSED big stars let themselves down badly out there tonight and embarassed themselves as far as i'm concerned.
Strachan cant be blamed when when his BIG players seem to lose the abilty to function as professional football players during a game.
But he can be blamed for continuing to play a substandard player like Gary Caldwell. This guy cost us 2 goals tonight and could have cost us more and thats a fact.
These guys need to have a good hard look at themselves. Jeezus they couldnt even get the basics right, like passing the ball 5 yards or simply just controling the * ball in that 2nd half.

Not one Celtic player won the battle against his opponent tonight.

If we're going to single out Caldwell's error, what about Hartley's marking of Deco for their first goal, or McManus' attempt at clearing for the winner. Each mistake lead to the same thing, no matter how blatant the mistake was.

Sorry mate but CALAMITY Caldwell cost us 2 goals and nearly another 3 FFS:38: HE IS *!

Naka was dreadful and Mcgeady ended up playing as a full back to cover Wilsons lack of pace, because of this he was taking the ball much deeper and his natural games fell apart.
Robsons runs into the box were excellent but he misplaced pass after pass as did Hartley, Donati, Naka and McGeady.
Samaras and McDonald got * all service so they cant be blamed for effort but Samaras can cut oot the diving.
Naylor was left one on one far to many times and was offered little protection from Naka and was ripped a new * time after time.

Yes they were all poor but Caldwell was a DISASTER as nearly ALL of us predicted might happen.:47:

too many players in the team are good SPL players but what good is that against one of the best sides in europe? only boruc came out of the game with any credibility, i felt sorry for him. we really let ourselves down, getting beat by barca is no disgrace but being a professional footballer who cant pass a * ball straight is. it was men against bhoys and i feel a bit let down. we'll still win the league but unless there's some major changes its going to be groundhog day every time we play a top side:54:

Unfortunately tonight we saw Caldwell in all his glory. He is simply not good enough.

We showed fight, endevour and produced two magnificent moments out of 90 minutes of a footballing lesson. I have to agree with the origional poster that for some non explainable reason we decided to make 5 yard passes around our own box * knows why we didnt just clear our lines.Caldwell was not the only culprit doing this it must be said. However I think you could count on two fingers how many passes he made that hit their target.

I have just listend to WGS yet again defend Caldwell saying he thought he was excelent until that one pass. I am sorry but Caldwell can do little wrong in the eyes of strachen and until he realises the boy should not be a first choice defender then I can only see more heartache in future as not Caldwells fault but he just aint good enough period.

How did Caldwell cost 2 goals?

The first goal, Hartley stood and looked at Deco, who then simply ran past him for the one two for Messi to score.

    The second goal, Caldwell's fault.

The 3rd goal, McManus attempts a clearance straight off Donati, and Messi creates space by beating Caldwell for the goal. Do you blame Caldwell for that?

The entire team were outclassed man for man, and we are lucky to come away 3-2 down.

That was a lesson on how to play football, not a time to lay the blame on one player.

i agree the 3rd goal wasn't his fault, it should have been cleared. he got skinned by IMO the best player in the world there's no shame in that but he should be ashamed of not being able to pass a football in a straight * line

Caldwell was all over the place after his school boy pass to Henry. If he had been more with it he could have prevented the last goal as he was caught square on to Messi his bodyshape was all wrong and he made it simple for Messi to create space for himself. Of course not many players in that position would have been as composed as messi to create space for themselves however he should never have been allowed the space in the first place and Caldwell should have squeezed him wide awayfrom goal.

Anyone who is still defending Caldwell IMO is making things worse as the boy will not improve this is his ability and unfortunately for him it just is not good enough.
