    I see Man Ure have rejected Freddy Adu after his trial, wonder if we should go for him. Maybe even on loan or something, give him a shot.

    He said in pre-season that he would play for Celtic.

    What u think?

    I mean after what the Chief Exec said today about celtic looking to sign players that not only improve the team but add to the 'Celtic Brand' having the American ronaldo at the club would seriously enhance the massive support we have in the states already, he could be our face out there in years to come. Imagine a Celtic Superstore in NY or Boston with Adu's mug all over the place, we'd make a bomb!

    He didn't say he wanted to play for us its just he isn't used to the press twisting his every word but with the argies at West Ham maybe a move to celtic wouldn't be a bad idea for Adu

    yeah I know he didnt say he wanted to play for us he said that he would be interested at the very least in playing for us.

    the americans see Europe as the holy grail, so Celtic would be a great level for him, not too much pressue in terms of Europe, but would win things and play in CL, wouldnt be cup tied for the last 16 either.

    * i've convince myself, what WGS number again??

    your in the States m8, do you think folks who follow football over there but who might not support Celtic, do you think they would start to follow us just to keep an eye on Adu?

    Guarenteed some of them would. I know many people who never even watched a game of football who know who Freddy Adu is.

    But most of the fans in the US are fans of a European club already. So it wouldn't make every football fan in America, Celtic fans.

    But yeah right now hes the face of American football. And adding him would add marketability here in the US. I can guarentee you that ESPN here would broadcast more of Celtic's UEFA games if Adu played for them.

    nice one m8, i wouldnt surprise me if we did have some interest in him, I wonder how much the MLS would want for him. From what I understand he was a first pick in the first draft when DC United picked him up. So the MLS must rate him highly. Not that I know much about the transfer system in the States :87:

    dude...You dont want to know about the Transfer system in the US. Its * awful. The league controls who is transfered not teams, I guess because of the lack of income the teams here recieve.

    yeah i thought it was like the champions got first pick from a pool of players in the close-season, then 2nd has a go and so on. Is that not the case?

    thought you were talking about transfers to Europe from MLS.

    Anyways MLS shares revenues and player contracts are neogitated with by MLS... and the draft you were talking about is mostly for new signings such as college athletes

    With Man Utd pulling out. Celtic could be getting a bid ready because of what Lawwel said today

    even before this thread after I read the news bulletin on the forums about that. I thought Dempsey or Adu is trying to be signed by Celtic.

    Can't see Adu signing for us, but perhaps, for his footballing career, that a movie to Celtic would be a good idea for him. Moving to a massive club, not saying Celtic aren't big, would limit his chances of playing regular first team football, which he would need to aid his development.
