Fenerbahce are reportedly eyeing-up five potential leagues to join, with the club wanting to leave the Turkish Super Lig.

Domestic Turkish football has been marred by several controversial incidents this season, with the latest of these coming earlier this month when Fenerbahce's clash with Trabzonspor ended in chaos as their players were attacked by Trabzonspor fans after Michy Batshuayi scored a late winner.

Shocking scenes unfolded as they were forced to fight back, with former QPR star Bright Osayi-Samuel and Batshuayi among those involved in scuffles after being threatened by supporters, while another fan was seen brandishing a weapon during the ugly scenes

Mail Sport reported last week how the club were threatening to withdraw from the league and the Turkish giants now have their eyes set on potential competitions to join.

According to Turkish journalist Ertem Sener, Fenerbahce are considering the domestic leagues of Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, France and Italy as options.

Adecision to leave the Turkish Super Lig - which Fenerbahce have won 19 times - would be unprecedented and it is unclear whether another domestic league would allow the club to enter, but their potential exit highlights the level of injustice Fenerbahce feel

The Athletic reported how the incident at the end of the Trabzonspor clash - which came after several Fenerbahce players were also struck by missiles during the game - was the final straw for the Turkish giants, who believe they have received unfair treatment from authorities over the years

Fenerbahce - whose squad includes former Premier League stars such as Caglar Soyuncu, Fred, Batshuayi and Edin Dzeko - are believed to be upset that no significant action has been taken regarding the chaos against Trabzonspor.

However, their frustration is also said to relate to several historical incidents over the years, including a game against Denizlispor on the final day of the 2005-06 season when they lost the league title.

The report also claims the Turkish match-fixing scandal from 2011 has played a part.

At the time, the club’s former president, Aziz Yildirim, was sentenced to six years in prison, while the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) banned them from competing in the Champions League the next season and they were later banned from Europe for an extra two campaigns

However, Yildirim's conviction was quashed in 2020 while the club were cleared of any wrongdoing in 2015. Fenerbahce demanded over £115million in damages from UEFA and the TFF.

Elsewhere, in 2015, more than 40 lives could have been lost when their team bus was peppered with bullets following a 5-1 win over Rizespor, which left the driver 'gushing with blood' and needing to be rushed to hospital

Miraculously the driver, who was taking the team towards Trabzon airport, was able to stop the bus from veering off a cliff and the team, which included former Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt, all avoided any serious injuries.

Incredulous at the level of violence embarrassing the country's football, all Turkish Super Lig matches were abandoned as a result. The ban lasted for one week

Meanwhile, as has been the case among several teams across all leagues, Fenerbahce believe they have been on the receiving end of several poor refereeing decisions across recent seasons.

Their grievances are believed to not necessarily be with just the TFF, but with the country's authorities, including the government who they feel have treated the club unfairly.

Speaking last week, club president Ali Koc said: 'The treatment Fenerbahce receives is not something we can tolerate.'

The Athletic report added that a decision will be decided by the club's members at a general assembly on April 2.

The match official spent more than a week in hospital following the vicious assault where he was visited before returning to his duties in January.

All Turkish leagues were suspended following the incident before being resumed following a one-week hiatus

No. You'd need to be voted in and I can't imagine clubs in other leagues really want to fly out to Turkey or want a club that can overpay players because of tax breaks footballers in Turkey get.

Even if they did get voted in it would not be in a top flight.

To be fair they have every right to be * at how the Turkish FA has made a mess of things, first the disaster by holding the Supercup Final in Saudi Arabia then what happened against Trabzonspor

Imagine the mayhem if we fielded u19’s in a cup final, immediately conceded and went * this we’re no playing :56:

    This forum would explode man.

I’d be both super impressed and seething with rage :56: be interested and hope we keep an eye on if they keep up this stance if UEFA are fine with a club moving leagues, and if they are if there are offers to go to one for them and how they’d join and what level they’d need to. It’s never been a proper option for us, unless we start at the very bottom of the pyramid in England apparently. Clubs down there would never let it happen in a higher division, we’re too big a club held back by the league we’re in. Down there, TV money alone keeping the same board even, we’re a danger but I’ve always thought, we’d be immediately snapped up by some sort of billionaire, we’d immediately be the most obvious sleeping giant with a massive potential and a cut down price if we’re just moved down there to a lower division

The Turkish Super Lig will appoint foreign video assistant referees (VAR) for crucial matches until the end of the season following claims of bias.

Fenerbahce's president said an "underground network" in Turkey was deciding matches by "using referees".

The club was fined £98,450 after staging a walkout in the Super Cup against Galatasaray in protest.

The Turkish Football Federation struck deals with associations across Europe to appoint VAR officials until May.

Fenerbahce were unhappy with the scheduling of the Super Cup fixture before Thursday's Europa League tie against Olympiakos and had requested the appointment of a foreign referee, which was denied.

In March, Fenerbahce's players were attacked by Trabzonspor fans which prompted a vote on whether the club should withdraw from the Super Lig, but Fenerbahce members voted to remain.

Galatasaray, who were awarded a 3-0 win following Fenerbahce's Super Cup walkout, have a two-point lead over their Istanbul rivals with seven matches remaining in the title race.

A foreign VAR official will be assigned for both clubs' fixtures this week, with Fenerbahce facing Fatih Karagumruk and Galatasaray taking on Alanyaspor.

Officials will be appointed from Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal.
