    Guitar solos have largely disappeared from music. The odd solo nowadays is usually pretty crummy. Guitar fans, please post the songs with your favourite guitar solos here!

    I quite like the solo in 'In Bloom' by Nirvana. It's not your 'usual' guitar solo but it definitely adds to the song.

    The solo in 'Get Inside' by Stone Sour, performed by Jim Root, is very good.

    I'm a big fan of John Frusciante's improvisation when playing live, especially when he changes the solos in certain songs. For reference, have a look at the RHCP Slane Castle DVD and listen to 'By The Way' on the live Hyde Park album. Also on the Hyde Park album; listen to the improv between 'Zephyr Song' and 'Californication'.

    Great choice:50: I love the drumming at the section I think you're meaning as well.


    I like all the short, sharp, catch lead guitar playing. Paul McCartney's lead on "Taxman" is excellent. Simple but really good.

    I'm not a fan of blues things and big * solos.
