Or we all still wanting protests and the manager to walk in disgust?

Anyone re-evaluated their stance on whether the club have any ambition? Or whether or not there's validity in the claim (fact) that transfer business generally ramps up near the end of the window?

How about the Huns. Anyone still think they're operating better than us with regards recruitment? Or that they're anything other than perennial bottle merchants?

Thoughts in here please. Don't all speak at once :BR1:

A bit early for this. Wait until our Champions League is well underway and see how our new recruits have bedded in to or strengthened the team.

This will just be another thread with the same people arguing back and forth about whether they did enough or did enough quickly enough.

People are allowed to vent and the Internet makes venting more extreme as it is a faceless and less accountable place.

I myself am embarrassed at the things I say on here at times, but people were rightly angry after our recent transfer windows. No need for this thread mate

Rodgers told us a couple of weeks ago that our model and transfer strategy isnt fit for purpose. It's odd not to believe him because we beat rangers again and made some transfers on deadline day.

And even amidst the most negative emotion on here during the transfer window I don't recall anyone suggesting that rangers are operating better than us?

It's not all sugar and it's not all *. The reality lies somewhere in between.

The reality is that the barometer of our progression starts with Slogan Bratislava in a few weeks and will end with Villa in January....and Rodgers knows that.

That's why he expressed his frustration on several occasions about our transfer dealings.

Wait until we’re midway through the champions league before i comment, beating the dross in our league has became the norm.

For what it’s worth i think we’ll do well in the CL this year.

The Huns shouldn't be our benchmark just now ffs, they are shambles..

We absolutely need change in our footballing structure and I'm glad Rodgers has mentioned this..

We've has an excellent start to the season and I'm happy with the additions and what we've managed to get rid of too..

But, its essential we don't get carried away with a routine win over the Huns, we need to keep pressure on the board to act like an elite minded club..

    Bang on the money.

Too many on here get too downbeat during transfer windows and the slightest hint of positivity is seen as “happy clapping”. It’s nonsense. As @Seán Mac D suggests, the reality is that we’re not a complete shitshow, but there’s a lot of room for improvement too.

I honestly think there's such an attitude problem with so many supporters.

If we agree this window was a standout and a sign of ambition, then by definition we agree that everyone was rightly frustrated in previous windows by a very different approach.

I think this type of fanboy-ism needs put in the bin. I've seen loads of people usually accused as board haters giving really sensible opinions on the window - because that's what they've always done, given their honest opinion of how things should run.

Personally, I'm pleased to see a bit of ambition but I also think it's largely due to pressure from the supporters and the manager over the years.

Without trying to disrespect anyone, I think fawning over a board for spending less than they took in is quite pathetic, especially trying to characterise it as some sort of gotcha to fellow supporters who've been asking for ambition for a decade.

I fully believe this window fell a bit short (an acceptable amount, but still short) and I expect more to be done over the next two windows. It certainly wasn't some sort of super window.

Sometimes I agree with you on some posts then others I just find you a bit odd to be honest. Really strange thread here mate :56:Rodgers has already said what most of us have been moaning about. I'm relatively happy with the transfer window but there have been a lot of others which have been pish. Folk were right to moan and be concerned.

The signings late in the window are definitely a step in the right direction. It’s the type of signings that should have happened last summer. The recruitment structure is still an issue, and this was confirmed by none other than Rodgers himself in his interview after St. Mirren away. The huns are a basket case and I’ve not been concerned about them this summer whatsoever. It was always going to take a monumental collapse from us not to win the league this year in my opinion.

Europe will be the acid test once again. If we can keep all our big hitters injury free then we have a chance of progressing. We are in a great position financially, and with a proper scouting team in place, who knows what we can achieve. Until we get the structure properly sorted though, then we can’t fully fulfill our potential.

A few good performance and results in the SPL doesn't change the structural issues we still have on the sporting side, so not calm yet.

Brendan himself raised the concerns, not only a growing majority of fans - he identified what needs fixing by the club and I hope they listen.
He also talks constantly about the need and expectation for continuous improvement.
We did see a step forward by prioritising quality over quantity, that's hugely positive.

For me, we still are nowhere near fulfilling our undoubtedly huge potential
And that's the most exciting part, we should have some really great times ahead of us, if we keep moving forward as a club.

Sunday was pretty sweet tho! :BR1:

From my view, wrong time to post a thread like this.

I maybe haven't saw the posts saying we'd be up against it in SPL, whilst your barometer is in SPL, mines is certainly in Europe.

Don't expect to be world beaters, but we've been pretty embarrassing for the most part in Europe.

This might have came a good few months early.

Haha we'll let you know after the Bratislava game. Our ambition has to be bigger than beating rangers.

Bit early yet but the big gripe for me is still the footballing structure. No doubts we will be successful domestically, Europe we shall see.

But I still have concerns I had with how we approached that transfer window. We got enough (just about) done in the end but there's still some work to be done there before I'll even think about saying that the board are great and I've no issues.

I have little to no issue with Rodgers and the players.

Time will tell if the manager gets what he wants regarding the structure behind the scenes. We are still one of the few clubs to be entering the UCL with no DoF, head of recruitment etc. Its time now some of that money we've made is spent on that side of things.

I think as others have said there's a definite muddle ground and when things go well after a period of questioning the shouts tend to die down naturally...but it doesn't mean anything I've said and others have said isn't still valid.

Rodgers called them out and I hope that the message has gotten through.

I was calm right through the window,
A/ Because we have enough to win the league
B/ Because i knew whatever we choose prob wont make abit of difference in Europe. Its only through successive successful windows and some luck could we hope to see us progress deep in Europe.

But that doesnt mean im happy with how we go about our business. Still feel we settled a winger short of what we needed. We have champions league qualifaction next year and with the right moves we could be more prepared for it.

Interesting stuff here chaps. I think most, if not all, of the replies here are from posters who generally air their grievances in a structured, thoughtful way for the most part. None of the shall we say 'over zealous' folk have touched it so far.

Agree with a lot of the things said, albeit the actual questions I asked have had little in the way of direct responses. I've said this before, but a lot of folk seem to take offence to these type of questions, when really there's no need as I tend to take issue with people who are way over the top with their negativity, rather than people wanting more from the club.

Would like to think some are willing to take a step back in future and try to be a bit more balanced. The club have backed the manager, the squad is strong and the culture at the club clearly is extremely positive.

We are in a great place, and if there are any bumps in the road down the line I hope folk show a bit of patience and support for the club. End of the day it will help the team massively.

It was a good end to the window, we're playing great football and we pumped the huns again.

Can't afford to sleep at the wheel now, we need to completely revamp the scouting network and continue to fully back Rodgers come January, Engels shouldn't be a one off, he needs to be the new standard, or at least close to it.
