Got a bad feeling about Sunday

Is it just me or does any1 else have a bad feeling about playing dundee utd away on sunday, if we play like we did against the bottom team in the spl with 5 goals, then were in for a rite good hiding!

The only good thing is that mcmanus is still suspended, but with fox and caldwell likely to start, my optimisim reduces by the minute, also glen loovens is still injured i think (why oh why did u send odea out on loan mogga?).

I think samaras and fortune should start upfront and bring mcdonald on in the second half, he showed against falkirk he can operate as an impact player.

Also id start mcginn on the right wing and mcgeady on the left, after mcginns performance for ireland against a good serbian side, i think he could cause utd problems all day.

Thoughts welcome?

I think it will be a tough game, it always is against Dundee United, but I think we'll edge it.

I don't even know what to predict. It'll be gutting if we drop more points. Read in the paper this morning that Maloney, Boruc and Brown will definitely not play. In light of that, I'd go for:

Zaluska

Hinkel
Caldwell
McManus
Fox

McGinn
Crosas
Robson
McGeady

McDonald
Samaras

I'd bring Fortune on in the second half.

Nah its not just you, im very worried about playin Dundee Utd on Sunday! Assuming that Rangers beat Kille at home on Saturday and win their game in hand, i wouldn't want to lose anymore ground on them!

McManus is suspended so the options to partner Caldwell at the back is either a tender Loovens, an inexperienced Thomson or a player out of position...

Loovens is apparently very doubtful so it's down to Mowbray to either play him unfit or go with Thomson, i dont know anything about the young guy but i know alot of people have been shouting for him to get a game so maybe now is his chance.

If i'm honest I dont see us winning this game unless Mowbray has done alot of work over the break.

Oh then I'm not sure who I'd put in the middle with Gary. I've never seen Thomson and I wouldn't want to put an unfit Loovens on against Utd.

I'm thinking he will try and go with Loovens. A mooted possibility is Zheng Zhi but Mowbray has only played him behind the striker this season although big TM has been quoted as saying ZZ is flexible.

I also think it should be impossible for Mowbray to leave out Samaras and McGinn after fine performances in the WC qualifiers (from what I've read)..

I actually thought Zhi was a centre back when we signed him.

Although not banging in the goals, I think Samaras has been playing well for us recently. He was good against Falkirk, he set up McDonald's 2nd goal.

One of the toughest games we can play away, I reckon we'll struggle big time.

Zaluska

Hinkel - Caldwell - Loovens - Fox

McGeady - N'Guemo - Zhi - McCourt

Fortune - McDonald

Don't know how's Maloney's situation developing, but I'd still have Paddy instead of him. Super sub McGinn will replace him or McGeady, that's for sure. Our "rock solid" defence without McManus is more reliable, but I can't say whether they will concede or not. I hope Fortune shows more than he did in last match and I hope McDonald scores.

I defo wouldnt bring fortune on, hes not an impact player, he has to be playing the full match for me, id have mcdonald coming on as a second half sub like he did against falkirk.
I would definetly have mcginn before mcourt, hes much better at tracking back and getting balls in the box, im still not convinced about mccourt as a team player, for me hes a pre-madonna and a 1 trick pony, and defensivley hes non-exsistant

i read that ZZ's best position is centre back. cant be any worse than the current lot.

will be a hard game. sad to say but i think any away game is a doubt for full points these days

We could look on the bright side and say that at least we have a more competitive league now?

Probably be just like us to go out and hammer them, we're that inconsistent.

I'll go for 3-1 to the glorious men in green and white. Looking forward to this one, when you get an international break, it really drives the thirst for the next game. :shamrock:

It seems theres a thin line between us beating teams 6-1 and loosing the game, we dominate the game for 90% of the time, we have countless chances we cant put away, but the game against falkirk we were the second best team, thats the worst weve played this season and we didnt deserve a draw. So the only way is up, and i wont settle for anything less than a win.

We've got to go for an attacking team, who can pass & retain possession - this means that Crosas MUST play.

I'm sick * fed up with the current style (started by Strachan) where we pick a team to play a team - which generally means playing Caldwell & Robson in CM to add physicality, but reduce technique & intellegence.

If we try to out muscle DUFC as we have tried to do so for the last 2-3 years we will fail to win - as we have for the last 2-3 years (no coincidence).

We have to play the game Mowbray supposedly wishes us to play, retain the ball, use it well, be highly mobile & offer options to the ball player.

We can win this game & we can play this way - we've did it against better teams away than DUFC - Moscow, Hamburg, Israel (1st half).

C'mon Mowbray, play Crosas & N'Guemo in CM, with fast tricky wingers McGeady & McGinn.

If we do, then we'll create chances.

Defence is a major * worry though, but Mick is suspended so it's not soo bad.

lol thanks mairilouise :)

Another thing, Crosas isnt the answer, he claims to be a defensive minded midfield player but he cant defend to save himself, ive never seen him win a defensive challange in my life, i agree he has a decent range of passing, but he is lightweight and also adds nothing going forward, im not nguemos biggest fan either but he throws himself about and challenges for the ball, crosas shys away from it. We need a good solid box to box center mid, but until that id go for robson and nguemo.

I agree once again lol, ive never understood what type of player Crosas is meant to be! He’s not attack minded and he’s not defence minded when he can’t tackle….. Nguemo is definitely a better option defensively!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
