Kind of in advance of all the bluster that we'll get on here later if we lose, I'm going to ask if Celtic losing causes you to feel anger, hurt, loss, depression, apathy?

In reverse of that does us winning cause you to feel happy, uplifted, joyful?

I remember reading a Liverpool fans commited suicide at halftime when AC Milan were beating them 3 - 0 at halftime, they obviously went on to win the CL on penalties that year....what a fud!

There have been a lot of emotional responses to our results this season & it got me thinking how results from a pretty insignificant part of our lives can have a real effect on our happiness.

I mean it's only a "game" after all.

    Sums it up really.

It's not a life threatening disease.
You've not lost a loved one.
    Lost your home.

    It's only a game FFS.

Nice to win but if you don't......at least if you have tried 100% you can't be blamed.

yeah it is only a game but celtic games do have a profound effect on my mood!! footie certainly is not a matter of life and death and i can live quite happily when the huns occasionally win the league but my general mood is effected quite severely; for example last week i was delighted when we beat hearts, crowing at my hun mates at work then we draw with aberdeen and i was absolutely fizzing for the rest of the weekend lol!!

At the risk of sounding pathetic........yes they really do.

If Celtic are losing and struggling it does get me down. It's a horrible feeling knowing that we are second in the League and that the Huns are on top. Every time I see one of their strips in the street it annoys me whereas if we are winning and on top I just have a wee smile to myself and think GIRFUY.

One of the things that made me realise I take losing quite badly happened on Black Sunday. I was standing alone in a bar about an hour or so after the game. All my mates had gone to another pub but I just wanted to be on my own for a bit. There were a couple of other Celtic fans in the bar when 3 Huns walked in, 2 girls and a guy. The Huns started winding up the Celtic fans in the bar and there was a bit of banter floating about. The two Hun burds then saw me standing at the corner of the bar with my colours on and were going to start giving it to me when the Hun guy tapped them on the shoulder and said 'leave him alone. Look at his face he's devastated'. He was right. I must have looked pretty bad before even a Hun gave me peace just an hour after winning the League.

I can't hide it though so yes it does hurt me emotionally when Celtic lose. It's not 'just a game' to me and never has been.

good post hairytoes, credit where credit is due :50:..

and yes when celtic lose it puts me in a very miserable mood and when we win it puts me in the best of moods.. celtic is a massive part of my life, always has been, always will be... but when things arent going celtics way and im down on it i just think to myself that you could be a hundred times worse and it is only a game..

celtic does have a big effect on peoples lives but its not the be all and end all, plenty more to life than just football..:50:

Without a doubt that emotion rules after a result..
Around 50 days per year where everything is based around that day's game.. excitement , anticipation etc... A defeat lingers.. It ruins the rest of the day at the very least and can be the first thing that's on your mind the following morning like a hangover , so a bad season can run into 100+ days a year of feeling down and is very hard to find an immediate pick me up after a defeat.. Some people might feel you need to be hurting to be a real supporter but I'd say it's just how people's personalties are that defines their level of hurt.. Some can handle dissapointment while it hits some of us much harder and dissapointment turns to anger , blame etc..

As things stand , a defeat against Dundee Utd will have much more of an emotional imbalance than a victory will have today... A victory is obviously required to keep the slim hopes alive but due to circumstances of one false dawn after another and expectation for the season almost being downgraded to Scottish Cup success , I don't think many people will get too high if we turn over Utd as our bodies defence mechanism's will kick in.. There's aslo added emotion depending on the results of huns games..

(EDIT: Just noticed on the Scottish football thread - Huns game off today)

Seeing them lose doesn't DEVASTATE me but it does leave me betwen mildly and extremely disappointed depending on the scoreline, who we are playing and the importance of the match.

Def...make or break my day. When you look forward to a game all week and we lose it can put me in a right foul mood.

It definatly has an effect on how I feel for the next couple of days, come Tuesday/Wednesday, I start looking forward to the next game.

I've never felt suicidal or anything, that's just a tad silly, in saying that though, if anyone commits suicide over their football team losing a game, then I think it says more about their long term mental health than it does the love of their team, ye know?

Anywho, yes, it does affect me. I wear my hoops with pride, win, lose or draw...but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't want to smack a hun that walks by me with a smug grin on their face, then again, how many times have they wanted to give me a smack?... lol
