    Neil Lennon set to be named Celtic boss - and wants Palace star as first signing



    Neil Lennon is hoping to be named Celtic's new manager this week - with Crystal Palace's goalscoring midfielder Darren Ambrose his first signing target.

    Lennon has done a good job as caretaker after Tony Mowbray left and he is expecting to be confirmed in the post on a full-time basis shortly.

    The former Leicester City star has been scouting for players as he waits on official word - and he is keen to land far-travelled Ambrose who could be ideal for the SPL.

    Ambrose is set to quit Palace, who are in administration for the foreseeable future, and he may be sold to raise cash for wages to pay the players throughout the summer.

    QPR boss Neil Warnock also wants Ambrose, but Celtic will try to beat the London club in the signing chase - with Lennon waiting on the green light to bid.

    Lennon also wants Newcastle United coach Alan Thompson to join his backroom team, but will only make a formal approach once he gets the nod from his bosses.

    not sure if hes celtic quality because ive not seen him since his newcastle days but 20 goals from midfield is good considering CP almost got religated maybe just what we need?

    Ambrose is a good player. Really liked him at Charlton when they were in EPL. Only thing is he must be getting on a bit

    Yeah, I'd take Ambrose. Good midfielder, gives goalscoring dimension we have lacked and played out wide in his younger days so would give a bit more flexibility and greater options to our midfield. Would be happy with that.

    Would be a decent option and would be guaranteed to give us the goals from midfield we're missing. Quite a versatile player too.

    Be a good signing for us. He has got pretty much everything you would want in a CM, scores goals, gets stuck in. Would do a good job. But as mentioned above he is getting on a bit, so is he leaving Crystal Palace on a free?

    53 games 20 goals and 1 booking either he's really good a tackling or he doesnt get stuck in..........Is he any better than Zhi , Crosas , N'Guemo or Brown the last thing we need is another squad player we need player that will better the current 1st team.....

    20 goals from 53 games is a great record for a central midfilder esp when u considering he was in one of the poorest teams in the league, don't know about anyone else but i would love to have someone at our club capable of doing that. Plus at 26 hes at a good age and we could easily sel him on in a couple of years if it doesnt work out

    Very good player Also when he played for charlton he was a winger, so i assume he can cover there. I'm Imagening he does a very Similar Role to James Milner at Villa. He has a good shot on him and a lot is pretty quick. Would be a very good Signing
