The goal was superb and probably our only real bit of quality in that game. Goal aside though, I don't think he was great vs Brugge.

I love Maeda and he's been very good this season (one of our best players), just pointing out that there's been a pretty noticeable drop off since the Aberdeen/Leipzig games.

It's a cliche but you can tell what kind of game he'll have by the way he starts. When Maeda is * he's really *; when he's good he's excellent.

We really need a different type of LW to come in and compete with him.

I agree we need other options on the wing, I'd imagine that'll be a priority in January..

But, I would hardly call it a poor run of form, he's our top scorer in the CL and has been generally good domestically too.

He's been really poor for a wee while now. I know he's scored a couple in that time, but his performances haven't been up to par. We've known this for ages, but if a defender can match his pace or physicality, he really struggles. No creativity or guile to his game whatsoever.

And he needs to curb this habit of giving away stupid fouls. Constantly goes sprinting after someone and clattering them.

We desperately need another winger (two, actually).

He made a couple of good presses defensively to help us out but in an attacking sense he was *.

Actually played pretty well but his final ball was absolutely hoaching. Frustrating me again recently with his crossing.

He's been off the boil for a while now, started the season really good but is starting to look like the Maeda of old recently, despite a really good goal against Brugge.

Would obviously start him on Sunday but we really need to buy a LW in January, it's vital, until then I'd be playing Forrest against the usual Dross.

There are a number of areas where we can improve/upgrade the team, and Maeda is one of them, just imagine what a direct, pacy left winger with accurate crosses and shots would do to this team ?. In saying that, I would still play Maeda on Sunday as he always plays well against them, the same for Taylor. I am more concerned about the balance of the midfield and striker position to be honest.

Realistically we need better even though I like the guy and what he's done for us. For all his pressing and the moments of magic he's produced the fact remains that his control, passing and crossing are more often than not appalling and if we're hoping to progress as a team in Europe we can afford no passengers.

I thought he was absolutely awful tbh.

Still maintain that games like that where we are on top and needing a spark he is often not the guy to give the ball to. He struggles big time on the turn when getting it into feet, felt like he was going backwards too often.

No coincidence our best chance results from forrest being able to beat a man and spot a pass that Maeda wouldn't have been able to make.

His energy and willingness to run is always an asset in Europe but we do need another option out left. Particularly when Kuhn isn't on it we really struggle.

Before anyone jumps down my throat it's no slight on what he's giving to us nor is it a knee * reaction as tbh I've always felt this way about him. I can never get my head round people saying they'd have him over Jota...bewildering to me.

    Technically, a woeful footballer.

Makes intelligent runs so isn’t completely braindead.

Any competent winger squares the ball to Kyogo in the first half for a tap in.

    Very difficult to watch.

Very little if we persist with Kyogo. Balls whipped into the box are not what he thrives off...

To be fair to Hatate when he got the ball a few times I felt Maeda made some horrendous runs which is not like him at all.
As soon as he knows he doesn't have a full back for pace he goes into a shell. Thought he was poor last night.

Going into his shell is a bit harsh, he still put a lot of effort in he just wasn't particularly effective in an attacking sense.

I meant in the attacking sense. He never goes into a shell defensively but I just feel if he knows a full back has his number he completely runs out of ideas

This 100% he then always takes a touch backwards and looks for an easy pass and stops trying anything. I actually don’t think the combination of him and Taylor works at all well in an attacking sense. See if we had an attacking left back who was competent defensively then Maeda always looking for a simple ball would be fine but the fact Taylor is nearly always inside him means attacks just slow down or are killed dead.
