Embarrassing timing though, probably paraded alongside a loan signing.

He has done a good job and has helped us sustain a finacially healthy footing.

But we could be a lot better situated curently if he would back the manager with the funds instead of trying to skimp and penny pinch.

The appointment of Ronny Deila was also a prime example of this.

We are failing to capitalise and build from positions of strength.

Hmm their something sinister about that lights show tbh they stated what 3 and a half million was spent? It's not even upto standard they posted Amsterdam arena as example and its not even close to that of they spent close to what 3.5 or 2.5 mill on that then its a * shambles all was done was the lights were replaced with led the lights don't actually move at all.... I don't actually believe it cost what they are saying tbh.... Good way of righting off money into someone else's pocket though

Wasn't bought to improve the team but the squad which I can get as decent cover is needed for Tierney..... But I get the frustration of not having a first team ready experienced cb

It’s pretty much everyone from Rodgers to the boards fault that we haven’t signed better defenders in the 6 windows he’s been here

The job PL has done with s has been phenomenal

Few other teams our size in Europe could survive not only the restrictive financial environment but also the meltdown scottish football seen since the 2010's and still come out of it not only still profitable but smelling like roses.

He single handedly made the rangers armageddon look like a storm in a tea cup and right now there are only 2 clubs in the UK who are technically in the black, ourselves and the arsenal.

But the time has come for change in financial tactics. Theres no reason we cant keep our model but give it some breathing room also. I never wanted Ubertim-mcginn but for a CL team to publically lose out on a player to a championship side from birmingham (quite possibly the biggest shitheap in western europe) over a paltry 300k is an absolute riddy

The board now have to sanction more freedom of negotiation to Lawell so these deals can get over the line and we stop losing out on players. I actually dont even think we made contact with fabian schar, which given his release clause fee and easily affordable wages was a disgrace.

The board have built up a decent level of trust with the support the past two years, bringing in a world class coach, sanctioning decent expenditure, the hotel plans, the light upgrade and standing section etc, but now all that goodwill is right back in the balance where it was with deilas tenure and only a decent spend in THIS window will save it.

If not, the supporters ire will turn on them and PL will once again be a pantomime villain for supporters who think he has all our CL money under his bed.

We always get the same. We buy tried looking for quality and if it's there we will spend the money. And most transfer windows we are left frustrated. We obviously have a hard time competing with the money in football these days which to a degree is understandable. But so far we have basically re-signed two players (eduoard and Izzy) and got a kid on loan. It's not good enough and someone has to be accountable.

Is the quality not being identified or are we missing out on the b quality due to penny pinching. Imo it's the latter, and that will put the blame at lawells door.

Am very lucky to have seen is spending big with O'Neil at the club. Whilst I don't expect us to spend as much money as we did then, I can't help but question why not. How different is our income from early 2000's to present. And we appear to be stockpilling money for years now. Surely we have decent funds to spend.

The mcginn saga is available great example. If we give the sum Hibs were after we would have offered mcginn a better salary than Hibs and he could have been wrapped up before the rosenbourg game. Instead lawells plays games with it and it blows up on our face. And make though mistake, we have seen similar situations time and time before.

I have defended lawell in the past for keeping a healthy bank sheet but I won't be defending him again. Rodgers has brought him a lot of success and money. Go out and get his targets.

I feel like as a club that after a few successful seasons we get complacent with signings. You could argue that we've needed a centre back since last Summer

All started brightly with the appointment of Rodgers, signing Sinclair for 3.5million, Eboue for rumoured 3million, Ntrcham for 4.5 million, Edouard for 9million. Two high profile loan deals in Roberts and Charly.

But other than that, it's been rather poor from him and things are seemingly taking a down turn back to the old ways with Deila and even Lennons final season or two. Where regardless how much money we bring in - we seem to actually reign the purse strings in more and more.

He once stated we needed CL 2 out of 5 seasons, well we are on for 3 in 3 right now, with a massive increase in revenue from other areas (not to mention the CL fund has went up considerably since he made that comment) and some more massive transfer sales.
We all get it costs money to operate Celtic at a higher level, Rogic etc have all signed new contracts, but I doubt those sort of costs have swallowed up what seems to be a small fortune to us. Since January we have brought in nearly 16million in player sales alone, and spent only 9. Knowing that the increase in all other areas of the club is covering the day to days and then some, then surely even just player sales is enough to push the boat out a little more and show some ambition.

This should be a really exciting period for the club. Back-to-back trebles, stadium upgrades and further development with the hotel etc. Great manager and exciting young talents. Going for 10IAR and trying to get into the exclusive member's club that the champions league group stages seems to have become. But all that excitement is being ripped apart due to the lack of ambition and apparent arrogance the board have shown for the need of quality improvements on the pitch. And with that, you can kiss a historic 10IAR and the cash rich group stages goodbye.

I understand people's criticisms but for the negatives he has done he has done wonders for this club keeping us financially stable considering 15 years ago we were millions in debt and his work has helped get us out of there. I still think we will win 10 in a row, whether it be with Brendan or with Lenny. I am curious to see where they will go, we still can qualify, we didn't lose at home and last season we beat Rosenborg and Anderlecht away.
If Celtic do fail to qualify then I hope they put some investment for a Europa run or aim to build a team to qualify next season. None of us can guarantee whether we would have qualified with an extra 10m spent on our side, although it obviously would not have hindered us.
I think to sum it up, weighing up the positives and negatives of his tenure here, he has kept us the dominant team in the country. To me winning the first European Treble Treble would be more important to me, and I am sure many others than CL and also winning 10 in a row also. This transfer window is not the end of that and neither is the result last night. Many teams moan about their chairmen as they bleed them dry, seriously do their teams over but I think we still have plenty to look forward to.

Hate to say this but our enemies will be loving this and the MSM will be having a field day trying to untopple Brendan and Celtic from our lofty perches. I get mad at PL too but to be fair he's answerable to the folks above him who hired him to do the job. No sentiment in business I'm afraid. Hopefully this all sorts itself out and Celtic pull off a couple of great signings.

If I were in Glasgow, I'd be gathering people for a protest against this *. He is the one who has to walk. Screwed over Lennon and brought Deila in. Now, he's * Brendan over.

Lawwell has done a great job to ensure the club is in the best financial state it's ever been in! But he does leave himself wide open to criticism for his failure to loosen the purse strings and allow us to strengthen from a position of strength. The board are notoriously bad for settling for what we have and not looking to cement our dominance.

Yes, we have just won a double treble and secured CL group stage back to back. But as football fans we want to see the team push on. We have some real quality players from middle to front, and the only thing that is holding us back is the defence. Surely PL as well as Brendan can see that a couple of defensive additions (CB & RB) and we could be a real force! Instead of gambling with CL qualification we would walk through the qualifiers and put up a good fight in the group stage!

I don't know if its Lawell or not, but the McGinn saga (even if people were not keen) made us look bad, we low balled hibs for 2m he eventually went for? We paid 1.5m for Ciftci, if the manager rated him and wanted him then 2m should have been more than acceptable, and to low ball for peanuts was shameful.
