People have been wanting us to strengthen our defence since last summer's transfer window.

The issue for me isn’t the amount of money we’re spending. It’s how we’re spending it.

Lawell has a job to do and in the most part he does a good job with bringing in sponsorship what most fans are angry at is his complacency towards transfers he continually tries to get players on the cheap if it works then great but he has also cost the club to lose targets like McGinn by trying to be too clever in his dealings. we all know that the defence needed strengthening but the players brought in haven't done that but then there hasn't been a large amount spent on them

And you have a point! The defence is a mess!

But is it PL’s job to identify the players the team needs? Of course it’s not! He has staff that does that - most notably THE MANAGER!

So why the * was BR vigorously chasing a midfielder who was only going to sit on our bench at the business end of the transfer window? Why was he not chasing a defender? Had he been, then I could understand why folk would be miffed with the Board for not delivering the player.

Because Boyata is Rodgers favourite and he actually thought there was a chance Boyata would sign a new long term deal after the World Cup.

Look how much money Rodgers has spent and how many of our best starting 11 are his signings.

    Just can't get enough
I was talking to my friend about that and most our first team are not his players
I'm sure dembele or ntcham we scouted before he even got here, ntcham especially with our long term links to city, I don't actually trust his judgement on buying players after some of the * he has brought in so far

It’s difficult to know exactly where the blame starts and ends as far as transfer go. Who has the most input - Lawwell in terms of negotiating deals, Rodgers in terms of giving the go-ahead for players, or Congerton for identifying targets. The best business we’ve done in recent memory was under Lennon, with Lawwell obviously playing a part in that, so I don’t think it’s realistic to throw all of the blame his way, although I do think he * up majorly with McGinn, and should take some flak for that.

The frustrating thing for fans is that the weaknesses in the team are glaringly obvious at this stage. For all the talk of a new winger (and I don’t disagree that we could do with bringing someone in), centre back and right back are the obvious areas that we could strengthen, IMO quite easily. It would make such a massive difference to the team to have a fresh right back and a powerful commanding defender at the heart of our defence. We’re not expecting world class players to be arriving on our budget, but it would be nice to have 2/3 who were ready to step into the first team immediately.

Rodgers has done fantastically well so far so I don’t want to get too downbeat about things. My worry is that he might lack the pragmatism (and possibly ability to identify defenders) we need to be successful in Europe. Domestically, teams do seem to have sussed out a way of playing against us and well organised sides who are prepared to get very physical can cause us some problems. Someone mentioned Balde, and while I know he wouldn’t fit into the Rodgers philosophy, it would be * nice to have a real bruiser at the back again. Someone the opposition strikers just don’t want to go near.

It’s always the same every * window, BUT -

I genuinely believe that this major * storm will force him to splash cash and I think we’ll get blown away with the type of players arriving:56:

Don’t know why but I have a strong gut feeling that this will be the case.

After BR comments I can see PL coming out putting major pressure on the manager after the money has been spent.

If people on a forum expressing a different opinion to yours is bringing you down you need to grow thicker skin mate, maybe a hippo's skin, there skin is up to 2inches thick and i imagine it keeps you warm in winter.

By the way, take your head out of the sand and accept that what people are saying isnt them whining its the * truth, Lawwells done some good stuff for us yes, but we'v spent a grand total of 1 million this transfer window, ONE * MILLION, and the fact you think it's okay to be beaten by a * pishy hearts team or draw against a side thats lost 5 players and hasnt played a game again this season means you need to perhaps have some higher standards because we set our bar in 2016-17 and we havent looked close to maintaining it or beating it, we are regressing as a side, our defence is * now than it was then and you think people stating that isnt okay? Think you need to stick your prawns back on bbq mate and accept that at the moment BR, PL and the players are not doing there job as well as they should be.

    P.S
I * hate prawns, i prefer munching on Hippo hide.

End of the day you have to give your manager the best possible chance to be successful , He's not doing that.

2 back to back trebles and an extended run in Europe and the board penny pinch when we should be on a roll going into the new season. Now we're sitting mid table and good possibility of not reaching CL group stages.Extremely frustrating for fans/players/manager.Get your finger out PL and give Brendan some transfer money.

hes a * , but a successful * . we could have an all world team with the players we sell off, but we win domestic trophies left and right , and tease our arses in europe . so he knows we will keep buying tickets no matter what! what a *
