Craig Beattie should have been on the bench!

Well, I hope people on here can now see that having Beattie in the team from the start did absolutely * all for us. Zurawski or Aliadere should have started, as they have better pace and more control. Beattie is fine coming off the bench, but that is all he is, a super sub.

If we had Zuraw or Ali on from the start, we could have pushed Naka out wide on the left, Zuraw/Ali on the right, and Lenny and Petrov in the middle, with BBJ(to be replaced by Beattie after 60mins) up front. I still think we would have beaten the hun * with 10 men.

During the first 20mins, he did nothing of merit. Also why wasn't Mcgeady on the bench? McGeady could have replaced Beattie/Hartson for Thompson on the left.

In my opinion, GS is not tactically sufficient for big games like the OF or Europe. His tactics may wash with the average teams in the SPL, but not against quality opposition(which even the Blue * arent).

 

he well deserved his starting place on past performances he only lasted 20 odd minutes in his natraul posistion and he ran his heart out even if it was to no avail plus i would start maloney before magic or ali.

 

he deserved his start. don't think its very fair to say that strachan should have forseen thompson getting sent off for a yellow card after 2 mins. besides if we were going to go with that formation then i would rather have beattie on the right than zuraw or ali and how you can claim either should have been in ahead of both beattie and maloney, can you honestly say you were saying this before saturday? and for the record i would say that beattie is a lot faster than zurawski

 

yeah but the support in our end seemed to get a buzz when zuraw was on the ball. he seems more of a threat, is a technically gifted player and needs time. maloneys not an out and out striker, he's never been prolific enough. aliadiere is a mystery, was talk of him lookin to go back to arsenal, but he needs a chance. were in a position however that we are under pressure to get results, and experimenting has to take a back-seat. beattie merited a start, too easy to say he shouldnt have started. he was an in-form striker going into the game.

 

Beattie done well for the first 20 mins until pushed left as Dubsbhoy stated. What happened- BBJ was left to play up front on his own. Bearing he mind he can bearly run, the midfield was 30 yards behind him in our half defending, he was 40 yards from the huns goal on his own surrounded by defenders. When the midfield did regain possession they had no out ball due to BBJ lack of mobility, hence we continually lost possession and where increasingly pushed back until the inevitable goals came.
What we required was someone of Beatties pace and strenght up front. This would have given the defense/midfield many more options i.e a ball behind the defense into the channels for Beattie to chase allowing the midfield/defense to push out and put the Huns on the back foot. Also short balls into Beatties feet which he could take and go for a run / or give + go.
When your down to 10 men you need pace and movement (e.g Shaktar @CP).
This was GS's tactical mistake. BBJ should have been hooked after the sending off,
unfortuneately with him remaining we were effectively playing with 9 men.
The difference was obvious when he eventually was substituted, unfortuneately much too late.
In reference to Naka - possible changes in formation ( 3-5-2) but playmakers play in the middle, end of story!

 

I think Zuraw and Maloney schould start!
Big, fat lazy * also schould play until we change our style:
"kick near goal, maybe Hartson jump highest"
Ough, it`s horrible watching Celtic offensive play but I hope GS do something.
And also something must be done with "old guard". Especially Petrov, he schould buy shirt "I`m bored of playing for Celtic".
I know that probobly you will disagree with me but I think he schould leave!
It`s hard to say(he was my favourite Celtic player) but I support Celtic, not Petrov and it will be best for Us.
If someone think different, watch again all matches in this season and tell me that he played well, have great passes(or shots) and he is a leader who are heart of our team.

I agree that Beattie deserved his chance of a starting place, it's all about what you do when you get that opportunity, and he didn't convince me that he is a better starting option than Zuraw. Expect he'll be back warming the bench on Sunday.

BUT I WANT TO SEE CELTIC where players feel that they not play in football club only.
CELTIC IS MORE THAN CLUB, i will support them even when they will be relegated, but I can`t sit when I see involvement of some players.
e.g.Lennon play not good in this season but observe him before observe Hartson or Petrov and you will catch my words.

 

It's interesting how the Polish guys who I presume have began to follow Celtic since the signings of their fellow country men, whose judgement has not been blurred by misty eyed memories of previous seasons, are none too impressed by the performances of the Thompsons, Lennons and Hartsons etc...

 

yes i`m not impressed in play of Lennon, Thompson and Hartson this season. And especially Petrov!
But i see difference in play of Lennon or Thomson and from other hand Hartson and Petrov.
Yes I`m Polish, i`m proud of it and i always support Celtic.
And in my opinion new stage schould began.
Even if Maloney and Beattie will play not excellent this season they will be better in future.
Some day (we want or not) Petrov will leave.
And about Zuraw for example (couse of my being Pole)- If he will play like now during all season (not few games)- I`ll be first to say: sell him!
I will like him still. But I hope you see his "Magic play" this year

Only huns and cows doesn`t think and don`t have differents point of view.
But still discusion don`t have any sense.
He will stay,
you`ll be happy
and I hope Celtic start play better couse of great Petrov form.
I really want to tell you(when we finish this topic at end of season) that I made mistake about him.
But wait, then everything will be clear.

 

Dubsbhoy, I notice you have a very high post count and you talk pish a lot and make lot's of blanket statments like the one above, but can't remember a post where you actually back up your opinion with any sensible reasoning.

How about you put down the crack pipe yourself?

PS - I thought Petrov actually had a decent game against the huns.

 

No need to wait until the end of the season your points about petrov are way off the mark in fact i've going from frustration to laughing at your post.
