Anyone mind if I suggest Neil Lennon should resign Cillian Sheridan in the summer?

He is currently playing in Cyprus with Apoel Nicosia. I am sure an offer of £500,000 would convince his club to part with him. I saw him paying for St Johnstone and Kilmarnock the last two seasons and thought that he had improved since he last played for Celtic and his style of play would be a perfect foil for Hooper or now Griffiths, since these two players principally play outside the box.

For a number 9, he ticks all the boxes i.e. pace, heading ability, body strength, and finishing ability.

There is another thing that would interest me about him. The same could be applied to Leigh Griffiths. I believe that in their respective positions up front they could score many goals for Celtic over a number of years and not be subject to a move down south for far bigger wages. That is not to say I don’t think each is a good player. I just think that certain players fit a club and wouldn’t want to leave. Think of the example of Matt Le Tissier at Southampton.

As a side point about the economics of the game, think about two players who played for Hibs 20 years apart, Keith Wright and Leigh Griffiths. Wright signed for Hibs in 1991 for £500,000!!!!!! He could have easily played for Celtic or Rangers, that’s how good he was. Hibs could pay him an amount that would have defended him from transfer requests from all but the top clubs in England who didn’t want him.

Twenty years later, Griffiths would have loved to sign permanently for Hibs, but for a maximum of say £2,000 a week, he had his career to think about. He would rather play for Celtic for roughly between £10,000 and £15,000 per week, an average wage for Celtic. (Brown is top with £25k per week approx).

Fridjonsson looks like a target man type.

Has height and strength, looks good at holding it up from what i seen of him in the u20s.

 

I think we should bring back Derek Riordan to partner him.
