Posted the fact he was available on TalkCeltic 3 weeks ago. He had a trial at Arsenal but they didn't sign him. He was regarded as the best young defender in france 4 years ago. Had a serious injury, that's why I expect some teams would be reluctant to sign him. I say if he passes a strict medical and a scan ...sign him!.

He played for France when they gubbed Scotland 5-0 in Berti Vogts first game, think he cam off the bench around 60Mins, not that they needed another * defender!!!!!!!!!!

Quinn said he wasn't overly concerned (depending in what source you read it from) about or supposed '20m black hole' as reported by some of the tabloids and as you said BB he said he would get 'a little bit jumpy' if it rose any higher. I wouldn't think it will make a huge impact on next season's figures because if we can shift Balde off the wage bill this guy is reported to be available on a free and surely his wages won't be anywhere near as much as our great big Guinean galoot's, so depending on how it pans out it could be a good move financially as well as on the park.

Correct me if im wrong..but Bobo has not went anywhere yet and the title of this thread is "Christanval expected to sign today"...

I do not see Bobo going anywhere and unless there is a major cash input then i dont see how this can be good financially.

We lost money lastyear due to a poor run in Europe...this years cannot even be classed as a run...more like a " toe in the water" which by logic means that we will lose more money nextyear than we did this year...and we will also have an extra set of wages cos the guy isnt gonna play for free...

Unless of course there is someone about to leave CP with a decent transfer fee being paid to Celtic...

Reported that it's only a one year deal, and he's on a free so I don't think it's a bad thing financially, where else will we get a quality Central-Defender at 26Yrs for nothing?????

Its not nothing tho..thats the whole point...he will still get paid wages..which will add up to a considerable sum over the year...

It just does not make sense....why for only 1 year then?...if he is that good he would have been snapped up...i think he is decent myself but just do not see where the money is going to come from...

Ok BB maybe 'good' was a bit too strong a term to use, but 'if' we can shift Bobo and 'if' we can get this guy on board then whilst I understand it's not going to make any significant dent in our losses we may still save around 14,000 per week in wages which can only be a positive thing when you look at our current financial situation.

If we get rid of Bobo i would say go for it...

only thingthat is making me a wee bit nervous is looking backto the time when Fergus Mcann stopped us going bust...

Any business cannot maintain spending more than what comes in in the long term....The long term is my main concern...

Agree with you 100% on that one, which is why you're point about a certain player leaving CP for a decent transfer fee (4m perhaps?) is very interesting indeed.

All Phillipe Christanval has too do is pass a medical, then :ynwacelti can talk 2 him about a move(only a 1yr deal)he has played 4 a few big clubs when he was at Barcelona he was considered to be the outstanding product of a French Football Academy, but he lost his way at the Nou-camp+Marseille,he thought he could resurrect his career at Arsenal+he was included in the gunners pre-season trip too Austria, but he did-not convice them. i hope we can sign him 4 one year :ynwacelti Bobo needs- :help:

Notice Christenval is wearing no.5 top, previously worn by DuWei whilst on trial.
Does this mean Du Wei deal is dead, or is it on ice till october when the chinese league finishes?
The fact that Arsenal had him on trial, suggests he could be a worthwhile addition, here's hoping.

Du Wei was never registered, so the number is irrelevant. i do think that the Du Wei deal is off, its been all quiet on the chinese front. i suppose the 1year deal is for security. he has had a poor injury and hasnt been in good form. the potential is there but ive a feelin the 1year deal may be a mutual agreement.
