Will Ronny now strip this guy of the captains armband and also drop him out the first team?

I'm not asking should he, because I'd like to think any sane person would feel he should except maybe for some of Mulgrews relatives.

But, I'm asking WILL Ronny strip him of it and give it to someone else for the CL Play off?

Let's be honest, this guy practically single-handedly almost caused us to miss out on CL football and in the main caused us this tie against Legia imo.

He was involved in about 90% of everything that went wrong in the games from constantly giving away possession, * it out of tackles, being far too slow, turning like a fridge, giving away two penalties(Which if one were converted we wouldn't have got this second chance even with the suspended player playing), causing Ambrose to get sent off with his awful first touch putting us down to 10 men, being at fault and largely contributing to 5 of the 6 goals conceded by us over the two legs(4 goals in Legia and second goal conceded at Murrayfield)?

The only reason he gets picked is because Ronny has made him captain imo as it's obvious he doesn't want him to play at the back as he doesn't trust him there like Lenny but has shot himself in the foot by giving him it by forcing himself to play him.

Now, I'd like to think after those performances who was by a galactic mile was our worst player in both legs that Ronny would now realise he simply isn't a midfielder or a leader, if Ronny hasn't realised that then somethings wrong. He's that poor Legia probably rubbed their hands once they seen him in the side again and Maribor will be the same in hope after watching our games against Legia. Let's not let this guy cost us again.

So I ask, will he be dropped after this in your opinion?

He should be dropped, but I don't think he will now unfortunately. Deila made a mistake making him captain.

I am really sick and tired of seeing this guy play for us week in week out. Lennon played him all the time and when Ronny came in I hoped he was going to be dropped/punted. I can't take to Mulgrew at all

I think with Ronny bringing in some players (hopefully) it's a good time to drop Charlie and change captains. I believe Ronny has given it to his GK in the past but that may or may not mean anything.

Of course if he is dropped which there is a good chance of but it would be an awful kick in the face for him to play and not be captain.

I said in the poll a few weeks ago lustig is the only leader we have now besides brown and should have been captain for legia games aswell as being captain against maribor

You'd think some people would finally take the hint and not write off Charlie Mulgrew.

Mulgrew should be nowhere near the Celtic team, never mind captain.

    Give it to Stevie May.

Oh, wait, he'll be plying his trade with Rotherham.

I doubt it, but he should be dropped and stripped of the captaincy.

No, he should be nowhere near centre midfield, but he's a very good centre half.

I've said time and time again - him and Virgil are a very very good centre half pairing. Drop Ambrose and have Johansen and Biton (until Brown comes back) in the centre of midefield.

He's a decent backup centre back..... in the SPL. And he's a great left midfielder when we're parking the bus in Europe and we need protection for Izzy. Beyond that there's no way he should be anywhere near starting for us. As a DM, it's a joke we've went fro Wanyama.... the guy was an absolute animal, tactical astute and good passing range. Mulgrew is the exact opposite, tactical naive, poor passing and is so so slow in doing anything.

Jack of all trades, master of none..... if there was ever a player that this term was appropriate for it's definitely Charlie Mulgrew. It's hard to see who takes over as captain until Broony is back though, Lustig?

Again, a lot of people must have memory loss on this forum. He has been one of our best and most consistent players for the past 2/3 years or so.

This is no joking matter Vert from you of all people, if we are to stand the best possibe chance of progression to the CL Groups and the windfall that comes with it then dropping this guy would be a fantastic start on the road to that.

For those who are in love.....
He seemed the obvious choice from a bad bunch, we have no one near broonys level and that is the problem.. It's clear to me that he isn't captain material at all and hides under pressure which sends a terrible sign to the team around you..

I really like the big man but he is becoming hard to fit in the team as his pace is a hindrance in midfield with Celtic as he's too exposed in a 2, too slow at left back or left mid anddodge at the back..
Too slow on the ball, set pieces for long have been dire, gets really flustered and a big worry(I'm noticing more) is the.amount of 50/50's he * out of..

Been a real success story coming back to us and been great for periods but i can see the beginning of the end for chico , starting with being a squad player who we might end up seeing on the bench many times throughout the season..
He really doesn't suit ronnys pacey style offensive and defensively with quick tempo and high pressing which exposes him even more..

He still pings great diagonals but it's sitting in a miffield trio with 2 runners like.broonys and johansen/kayal or.nothing for me..

Tried to defend the big man but some performances for a while have been well below par,the legia away game was inexcusable..

You've got an even shorter memory then, did you watch him over these two games? Even when he went to CB in the first leg he was a calamity, gave away two penalties and was at fault for not marking his man properly for their third goal plus was woeful with the last goal of the match. There's a reason why lenny hadn't played him at CB consistantly for years and especially in Europe.

Kayal was decent a couple of years ago, but he isn't now and the same applies to Mulgrew doesn't matter what happened in the past it's about now and he's not got it.

Funnily enough, I think the exact opposite. I think a very good season- in which he won player of the year- has glossed over a long and sustained period of absolutely dire performances from Mulgrew.
