Champions League Kit Questions

As the title of this topic suggests, I've got a few questions about kits worn by Celtic back when they had to go through qualifying matches to get into the UEFA Champions League. I've been looking at old photos and videos of some of their matches and am wondering why they had so many different variations of their kits in them, I'll give some examples:

In the 2015/16 season Celtic played a 2-legged tie against Stjarnan, in the home leg they wore their usual green and white hoops along with SPFL-branded printing on the back but in the 2nd leg they followed UEFA rules, they wore their away kit but had a large, green patch covering the white pin-stripes on the back along with Celtic-branded printing on top. Why did they have SPFL printing in the first leg of a UEFA competition? And why did that change for the 2nd leg?

In the next round they played a 2-legged tie against Qarabag, in the first leg they were back to wearing green and white hoops along with SPFL-branded printing on the back but in the the 2nd leg they followed UEFA rules by covering the hoops on the back of the shirt and placing Celtic-branded printing on top. Again why did they use SPFL printing in the first leg when it's a UEFA competition? And then why did that change for the 2nd leg?

It was the same the following 2 seasons too, chopping and changing, anyone know why there wasn't a consistent pattern instead of all the randomness?

 

The UEFA rules, i believe only firmly kick in for the last qualifying round (the play off).
So we would never have broken any rules by doing the above.

As for why we actually did it? No idea.

Yeah I meant to say that actually, that they always followed the proper UEFA rules in the playoff (Champions League patches and all) but don't in the previous rounds, there must be a reason why?

Yeah somebody mentioned that earlier in the topic.

Thinking about it more, I think I might have cracked it! The team actually did follow UEFA rules in the pre-play off rounds before the 2015/16 season, things changed that season for some reason. Anyway, I've noticed that when they change to a euro shirt with euro printing in pre-play off matches, they tend to change either their Magners sponsor or Dafabet sponsor or both too, that's not a UEFA regulation, it's due to restrictions on sponsors advertising alcohol/gambling in certain countries. I don't think they have to change the printing on the back of their shirts as well, they probably could use domestic shirts with SPFL printing but with Magners/Dafabet sponsors removed but likely had already produced the euro versions, which come with euro printing, for when they played in UEFA competitions later in the season and it was just easier to use that rather than create a new version.

That's my take anyway.
