Just to clarify, and moderators can feel free to close this thread when it's been answered, but have we definitely signed Dominic Cervi? When I look at articles about his possible signing, they all practically say Celtic are 'close to' signing him... However, I don't recall anything being said about him signing on the Celtic website.

I believe he is still trying to get his paperwork done for his Italian passport. It's pretty much a sure thing, but it takes time... when that's done he can officially get a work permit.

That's what I was implying. I meant to say that he can use that to get around having to get a work permit.

He travelled with the squad to Derry last night, i don't know if that's an indicator he's signed but he's still with us anyway.

So I just read the report... and it seems to imply Mizuno played as a striker ?
That's an interesting change if true... I'm curious if anybody saw it can say what's going on. Maybe it was just because of our injury problems, but still an intriguing change.

yeah we had sheridan and hutchison, who else could play up front, only one or two more.

So how good is this player we have signed, how old and where does he come from, I had not heard any of this.

The curious case of Dominic Cervi appears to now be over as he has finally secured his Italian passport.

"Finally, only 490 days after being drafted," an ecstatic Cervi told YA, after receiving his precious Italian papers.

The giant keeper has been in Italy for a while completing the necessary bureaucratic work to gain the nationality of his great grandparents. He has found it difficult to get on the field amidst so much uncertainty, he says.

"All this waiting is making me impatient, and all I want to do is knock some heads on the pitch," the Oklahoma native says. "I'm just going to a local field and knocking the ball around."

The former Tulsa Golden Hurricane has been bouncing around the world since completing his final season there in the fall of 2007. He has been tied to Old Firm squad Celtic since a trial there late last year, though any transfer depended on his securing European papers.

"Once everything is wrapped up here in Italy, I will head back to Glasgow to finalize that deal," Cervi says of his pending agreement with the Bhoys, bitter crosstown rivals of Maurice Edu and DeMarcus Beasley's Rangers.

Cervi says he hasn't heard from US National Team representatives during his inactivity. He made a whirlwind tour with the senior team last summer, sitting the bench for summer friendlies in Europe, and the ensuing early World Cup qualifying series against Barbados.

"I haven't heard anything but it's always an honor to be called into the squad. At the same time I'm anxious to get started with Celtic to try to earn a spot on the pitch," Cervi says.

The now dual passport holder is already cap-tied to the United States, having played for the Americans in the qualifying tournament for last year's Olympic Games.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Cervi is viewed as at least a 2 year project according to the Celtic GK coaches... so I wouldn't say he is in the same boat as Zaluszka as far as challenging Boruc. But he's * huge (6'6", 225 lbs), is extremely quick and is hard as nails, plus has great reactions. It's just some tactical and communication stuff he needs to get down.

And Mick is bigger than Heid, and I think Cervi's easily got 3 inches on him.

Mick's HEID is not bigger than heid's ,is i believe the point Hairytoes was making....

Anyway - very happy for the guy, and for us. I just hope in the longer-term he proves worth the (lengthy) wait!

You're correct... and based on memory I don't think it's going to be very close. Cervi's got a * megadome.
