Finally we are getting a LB he would bring that much needed experience in that postion, i would imagine barca will be letting him go on a free transfer.

Experienced player, good player. Im sure he played against us when he was at Celta Vigo.
He's played at Arsenal & Barcelona so he knows whats expected of being at a big club. He must be 33 or 34 now, but he still has a lot to give.

I reckon it will be an 18 month deal, and we have to look at young left-backs to come in and learn during that period, so someone can step in when he goes.

Can't see why anyone would think this is a bad move will get 2 years or so out of him, played at the highest level all his career also looks after himself great addition to an inexperieced squad.

Even at 34, would still be a good signing, far better than what we have.

    Good move.

Think this is the guy WGS was talking about signing in the summer and fell through due to whatever reason. Excellent addition to the squad and competition at last at left-back.

Very, very pleased. Yes, his 34 but that's the only downside. He's excellent going forward. Played in England with Arsenal, so has experience of playing in Britain with a great Club. He will bring much needed balance to the side. Takes the pressure off the club in terms of the long term search for a left back. If we get 18months out of him we can either bring through a left back or sign one for the future.

Only forced out at Arsenal AND Barca by Van Bronkhurst. He must despise him.

waste of * money imo too old, too expensive (wages) and no need for him in the squad, he will only unsettle the players who are already there.

    What?

Strachan has already made it clear he wont pay silly wages. If we get him for £30-40k a week for 6 months with a 12 month roll-on then great.

Unsettle the players? Are you mental? A La Liga winner and Champions League winner and you think that's going to unsettle the players? Plus, who's he going to settle? Our one LB? He needs a good shake-up.
