This morning in the Belgian newspaper ' Het Laatste Nieuws' ....Celtic close in on Akpala. He has a clause in his contract that he can leave for € 2.5 M.
Akpala was this season 'the strong man' in Club Bruges attack. He's a strong, quick and hard working striker. I would love to see this happen.
    These are his stats :

Might be the target man we're crying out for. Just watched a few clips. Seems quite eager to use his head, even on rebounds. Decent finisher with his feet as well.

As you said ...the target man we need. He's quick, solid and can score.
Would be good to get him ....but West Ham and WBA are also monitoring him.
    Let's cross fingers

Akpala set for West Ham move

    Posted: 2012-05-21 06:43
West Ham are lining up a move for Club Brugges' Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala, sources have toldKickOffNigeria.com.

The Nigeria international was in London all of last week for talks with the club and a deal looks likely after the Hammers secured their place in the Premier League with victory over Blackpool on Saturday.

Akpala, 25, has one year left on his current deal at the Belgian club, but has opted not to renew his contract.

French champions Montpellier are also believed to be looking in his direction, and a place in the Champions League is interesting the player, a close source informed KickOffNigeria.com.

Akpala scored 15 goals in 36 league games this season, and 7 in 11 European matches as Brugge finished second, four points behind Anderlecht.

we should keep in for him if we really are interested. I wouldnt be put off by West Ham's interest at all. We have beaten premier league clubs to players in recent times so I dont see why we dont have a chance of getting this guy.

Plus, that source KickOff.com doesnt sound overly reliable.

Id love to get him in, seen him before and he is an absolute tank.

I would rather have Jérémy Perbet talking about the Jupiler League.

Fits the target man mould could be good for us.
