The Spartak game will be really different to the two SPL games cause we will be defending in depth. We have not tried this yet so heres hoping. Sno is our only natural Lenny type player and he shone in the CL last season so if he is match fit he has to play ina 4-5-1. I now have a hunch we might get an OK result (0-0 or 1-1 or 1-2 or 0-1 would do especially the ones where we score).

I say just take it easy, and just keep a clean sheet, but go all guns blazing at CP

I know we're useless away from home in Europe, but that is the worst strategy to use in a 2-legged match where away goals count double.

We really need to shake off these Away-match-demons and (presuming we qualify) Spartak are, unfortunately but very likely, going to be the easiest team we face.

Going into a 2nd leg at home without any away goals is a crap situation to be in. I say we go 4-4-2 in Moscow but not all guns blazing (0-0 is obviously better than 0-1) and then 4-5-1 at home depending on the score.

I would be happy with a 4-4-2 like today if our defending in the midfield and defence was far far better but it looks really dodgy right now and I think a skilled team would take is apart. Hopefully that will sort itself in a few more games but right now I reckon we would ship 4 or 5 with today's lineup. Am pretty sure WGS will pick a 4-5-1 but maybe go to 4-4-2 for last 20 minutes to try to get an away goal.

I agree Donati will need to play better, but that was a hard side we were playing against.

    I would play this team:
    Brown

    Wilson--Kennedy--Mcmanus--Naylor

    Naka--Brown--Donati--Mcgeady

    Jvoh--Miller

I think you will see Donati come in to his own on Wednesday :50:..His game is more suited to the European stage :50:

I'd play two up front. If we sit back they will come flying at us. We can't defend for 90 minutes. I'd play Miller so Moscow's defenders don't get much time on the ball.

Id rather Play JVOH up on his own and pack the midfield ...but its not our decision at the end of the day :celt_2:

2 strikers will be no use , we can have a 5 man mid with perhaps brown infront of 2 others ,no problem

I agreee with the selection but have miller palying a bit deeper so he can terriose mid and the defense and be pressured to score as much

I really dont want Kennedy to be playing on this plastic pitch its way to risky, and this is the team i would expect GS to put out if he wants to defend (4-5-1) I would be very shocked if he puts out a (4-4-2) playing away in the CL thats just suicide for a team like us, hopefully we can get a draw or even better sneek a 1-0 win.

As I said in another post I can easily see arguments for 5 in midfield or playing with 2 up front. It's a difficult one to call. The key could be what is Sno's status. If he is good to go then I can see him being played in the back of our midfield with VOH up front by himself. Miller dropping out of the starting lineup.

It gonna be so * hard to make a draw there in Moscow. I'd take any draw fo sure... 4-5-1 would be a suitable tatics imo

Just for the record, Spartak won today 2-0 away on goals from Bazhenov and Pavlyuchenko.

1-1 in Spartak would be a good result.

    I say;

    Brown
    Wilson - JFK - McManus - Naylor
    Naka - Brown - Donati - McGeady
    Miller
    Vennegoor of Hesselink

We shall try not to let Spartak get all the possession because we aren't good enough in to 90'minutes of defending. We just have to make it difficult for Spartak to make their game, and be patient. Our chances will come with Miller, McGeady as keyplayers.

I think people here are overrating them somewhat. If we play near our best we will trample them in both games.

I think some ppl are maybe giving Spartak too much respect. They are an ok team, however we will have the measure of them in both legs.

2-0 Celtic in Moscow and 3-1 Celtic in CP...(5-1 on agg.)

I believe Celtic will come throught this.....

Naka looks a bit tired though, and JVoH needs to sharpen up, other than that, Donati looks good passing-wise, Scott Brown is already becoming my favourite...a very exciting player.

This game will be won in the midfield, and we will probably go 4-5-1 for the first 50-60 mins, then 4-4-2 for the last half hour.

I'd say our mid will be Mcgeady, Donati, Brown, Hartley, Naka.

Bad idea to play Bobo.....stick with our defence, that has got to remailn, a successful defence is not chopped and changed, it is a stable unit.
