    Sectarian or not????

    I'm no into sectarian hun crack, but I love the Celtic Symphony as a song however it feels like a guilty pleasure with that "Ooh Ah Up The RA" line.

    Whether it is right or wrong to chant 'up the ra' is another issue, I fail to see how that chant or any of the Celtic Symphony can be considered sectarian?

    Think that was in the official lyrics, song was written by Wolfe Tones and contained the lyrics. Back in less PC times it was that version that was always on in Celtic Park.

    how is ooh aaah up the RA sectarian?

    1. Of, relating to, or characteristic of a sect.
    2. Adhering or confined to the dogmatic limits of a sect or denomination; partisan.
    3. Narrow-minded; parochial.

    its not sectarian but it is offensive, maybe time to change it to ooh aah up the celts.

    Its in no way sectarian, but it is offensive and in the current climate, inappropriate. I dont sing it, and I wouldnt criticise anyone for singing it. We are in a free society after all.

    But personal accountability for the climate we are living in is something we all should look at.

    For me Celtic is about the football. Nothing else.

    I don’t believe it is offensive.

    Celebrating wars in football has been become par for the course over the past couple of seasons.

    The Brit Army is allowed to be venerated on a routine basis. If that be the case, I don’t see much harm in celebrating the great and gallant men who fought against their tyranny.

    Some might see 'Up the RA' as irrelevant or inappropriate. That’s fair enough.

    Sectarian or offensive? No.
