Celtic manager Gordon Strachan will leave the decision over his final line up to face AC Milan until the last minute with many of his players carrying knocks.

Craig Beattie and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink both came off early at Aberdeen yesterday with tight hamstrings.

It's the latest in a long line of injury woes for both players, with both having missed large parts of the season with similar problems. The injury to Vennegoor of Hesselink is of particular concern, as his strong link up play and physical presence is going to be important against the Italians. He has been badly missed this season with no obvious direct replacement in the squad for his style of play.

Kenny Miller had to receive treatment for a cut in the head after colliding with a linesman at Pittodrie, and Magic Zurawski has also missed the last few games through injury.

At the pre match press conference Strachan admitted that only Miller has trained as normal, but that he was hopeful that at least one of the other three would make it in time for the game.

The only plus on the injury front has been the return to full training by Gary Caldwell, who has been missing since last year with a knee problem. The home leg may have come too soon for him, but it looks like he may be in contention for the return leg in a fortnight.
