Celtic park pitch

If we do get eddie howe over the line , watching a few videos and gary lineker asks howe if playing in a small stadium is a hindrance and he says no because we have a perfect playing surface ! This got me thinking will board get a new pitch laid ? If im honest the pitch has been shocking for a few year now and has probably played a small part on how we have been slower in our build up!

 

The last derby game the pitch looked like a bowling green

 

The annoying thing is their was * all wrong with the pitch before Rodgers got his hands on it some times the old ways are the best

Exactly , always remember even as fr back as oneills days what a terrific surface we always had

 

Nah the one Ronny got in, funny enough was ‘Dutch grass’, was horrendous. Our original was * perfect.

 

The last couple of times ive seen ibrox the pitch was a * mess, more muck than grass.

 

Don’t ever remember it being Ronny I remember it being Rodgers he got it relaid before turning it into a hybrid and it’s never been the same since

When did we get it relaid under Rodgers?

I thought it was exceptional in the 5-0 game that clinched the league. The best I've ever seen it tbh. That was April 2018.

 

He's probably getting mixed up as we relayed it for the commonwealth games in 2014 when Ronny came. Rodgers also got it relayed with the hybrid & it's been an utter disgrace since. It has started looking a bit better recently.

 

They dug it up at the start of that season for new under soil heating but only added temporary turf for the season. They started digging it up again in May 2018 to add the desso pitch

 

Fair enough.

I thought it looked good on the opening day last season when we hammered St Johnstone 7-0.

That would have been August 2019.

 

Think it did look good for awhile then it got some kind of disease & the worst part was over at the away end Has looked a lot better & with the summer coming up should be good for next season, well we do hope

 

Ronny relaid it then Rodgers relaid the one Rodgers got cos it was shocking

Saw some pics on Twitter a while back. Looked * awful. But couldn't remember how long ago that was.

We have more important things to get in place than a new pitch, aye it was a riot at the start of the season but it’s fine now.

 

Think everyone gripe if you take it from memory onwards to for example 2014 before commonwealth games celtics pitch was always immaculate even in the winter always looked amazing since the turf got ripped up disturbed it’s never been the same since

Just do whatever the clubs with the best pitches are doing. It shouldn’t be that hard.

I’d imagine for the best modern pitches there’s a certain type of maintenance that has to be done and we probably do what we usually do, start with the best intentions then get lazy and cut corners and it all goes to *.

 

Looks good now so hopefully fixed it. Probably needed a long and intensive anti * grass treatment or whatever grass folk do with it. I always find i have moss, looks green but doesn't need cut as much.
