We have to get a couple of players in now, thats use near enough in the European Cup Group Stage.

i say no and i imagine so would the board.

we're not there yet. high probability that we've booked our place in the CL group stage but we're not there yet. if we flop at CP after spending big, we'd be in division 3 next season.

 

I Agree with the OP, Ki money is in and we can spend with the knowledge knowing we should be through to the groups stages, Get Rhodes, Russel and a CB NOW !

Another winger/midfielder would be nice, as well as a target man.

We are in the Champions league ! We now need at least 1 if not 2 centre backs and a big striker capable of playing up front on his own. A playmaker would be a bonus also as with Ki gone we dont have that type of player anymore. Great "result" tonight but with the amount of chances we gave them tonight the thought of playing the bigger teams away from home in the champions league with this team is frightening.

 

I think it might be wise investing in a LB. We don't really have much cover there if Izzy gets injured, and he hasn't really looked his best at all this season so it might be wise getting someone else in. I agree that we should be looking to spend now- we're already guaranteed European football, we look to have made good money from Ki, and Champions League football is highly probable. We don't need to spend big, just a couple of million from the Ki sale. My concern is that if we wait til we qualify, we'll have left it too long to get some quality in.

 

CB and 2 strikers (1 a target man)

 

Im guessing thats Why we have lustig aswell so he can fill in for matthews if he needs moved to the left

 

If we qualify we should be looking at one striker, (Russell maybe - 1.5-2Million) and a CB (2Million) & maybe a loan player!

 

Need a front man for sure,to many goals coming from midfield and not enough from the front.
Think the board will wait for ki to leave before spending.

 

you dont get away with playing a right back on his wrong side in champions league ,good point about another leftback, mabye someone on loan from premiership.First and foremost lets address centreback as we know this is where your exploited time and time again at that level

 

Signings need to be made now. If not we face rushing at the deadline in which it's only really the unwanted that is available and anyone that is any quality gets an inflated price tag.

I hate deadline dealings, never work out as good as nice planned transfers.

Some European experience please, quality centre back and big strong experienced target man.

Players with big game experience. No Rhodes, no Russell, no daly. We should be looking for people with experience on this level! We have enough quality youth coming through and good young players in the squad. Get in some mature experienced heads!

It leaves it late but we have to wait and make sure we are in the group stages before we spend.

Job is only half done as unlikely as it is that they will score 3 goals at Paradise it is possible.

 

Qualify for the group stage first, then spend.

 

You not confident taking 2 away goals to CP against a team of this quality?

Plus, add a new player in time and he may be what is required to get us over the finish line.

 

I'd say a right back is more needed. Mulgrew and Ledley can play left-back plus we have Blackman and Twardzik. Beyond Matthews we only really have Lustig. I'd say its gone from being our strongest to weakest position, depth-wise, with Cha and Wilson leaving.

Also probably a CM and CB. Kayal and Brown are injury-prone so I'd like a 5th good CM. And whether its a CB as cover or to play in the first team I think we need one.

If I'm being greedy I'd say an advanced playmaker as well. Although with Commons back on form and Samras now a winger I think signing any advanced midfielder would be a bit pointless unless you sell one. Same with up front.
