Ok, yeah, we've all heard them. We've all listened to the pundits say, mr or mrs such and such miss the big Glasgow Derby.

We've also heard these pundits say Scottish Football miss them etc.

What are your thoughts on the matter. This is a great forum which I've loved for years now. I'd like to know people's thoughts on this matter.

    My personal feelings are......

I've never been happier as a football and Celtic fan! I really mean that . I hated the pressure and chance of losing to them. Now I love the Champions League and I'd love Neil Lennon to lead us to 10 in a row with a great football side of Celtic kids like Henderson!

When they did 9 in a row, it hurt big time. There was nothing we could do due to finance and it's went full circle. Now they have no cash. We've always been realistic with money however and the tide has turned!

For me, the callers who phone shows let us down because we deserve this glory:50:

    Thoughts?

Couldn't agree more with this assessment. :50:

A * scab of a football club we're better off without.

why stop at 10 in a row? Lets go for 100.

I would celebrate every single one of them the same and never get 'bored' of it.

I miss the games, miss the actual challenge from another club and the passion for they games! Best game I have ever been to is the old firm games, there was nothing better than beating them in front of a full celtic park! What an atmosphere. I also really miss the challenge, it is a boring league without a proper challenge for the title.

Media will refuse to admit it but it's clear by the reaction and how well the other clubs are now being run that Oldco dying was a blessing in disguise for the nations game.

For aslong as that continues and what ever different form their name comes in doesn't get in the way of the progression the likes of Dundee Utd, Aberdeen, Killie (who cleared their debt right?) and maybe Hibs next season with Butcher in charge from the get go.

It's a slow burn but Scottish football is looking good and hopefully we can keep that up

U know whit, I'm 14,000 miles away and for as long as I've been here (26 years) it's always been the highlight of the season looking forward to these games. It was the same when I grew up in Glasgow and I left when I was 17.
That being said I honestly, hand on heart ( and I never thought I would say this when they ceased to exist) can say that I have not missed them or that fixture to any great extent.
I follow Celtic, it's really that simple for me, probably simpler than I thought when those games stopped.
I would honestly be happy enough to skelp them in cup games occasionally, just to * slap them into place, and get on with growing as a club.
I'm rapt that other clubs are growing to close a gap although they'll never manage to bridge it completely, they will generate genuine competition amongst the rest which will drive points being taken from us on occasion.
I understand why people want that occasion but I can live without it.
I follow Celtic, * what used to be them.

I don't think anyone misses ''them'', but anyone that says they don't miss the big occasions/games are lying out their * in my opinion. The feeling of Old Firm days was just unmatched, even the days leading up to it.

You can still be happy with life without them and still miss the big games!

As people have said aye we miss bragging rights against the dead club that's about it! they are not coming back though! I fully beleive the new team will become rivals due to the fan base alone simple as that! Do I want that rivalry to start right now? Certainly not.

Why is it always us here's some facts about the whole of Scottish football benefiting from them dying

Hearts st mirren hibs celtic killmatnock Dundee united Aberdeen and Inverness have all been to cup finals since the "fall of them" 6 of those have won a trophy!

I can't remember who it was but didn't 3 clubs clear a * load of debt for a team of the there size? Dundee united was one

Scotland since ditching a lot of ex rangers players and not adding current sevco ones have massively got a better ranking with Uefa aswell

attendances have went up slightly with most clubs

League outwith ourselfs is a lot more competitive

Would these clubs benefit from dead rangers or sevco being alive or in the leauge? Money wise for sure do they need that money ? Definetley not !

    ARMAGEDDON !

I'd love to have played the tribute act at Ibrox in the cup this year, 25,000 Celtic fans shouting you're not rangers anymore as we hammered them would have been magical. Whether I miss having them in the league full time is a difficult question.

Fact is there will never be another competitive game between Celtic FC and Sevco5088 because of the gulf in money and class. No-one will ever want to invest in the deceased and Dave "cha-ching" King's "Fortunes" in the hands of Ally will only last for so long. Think of this, Dundee UTD a team who Celtic recently disposed of comfortably hammered "them" in their own back yard, tickets being outsold 4-1 in Blue favor (as expected) and they still ran riot with a reasonably young and no disrespect cheap team. Now imagine us playing them at a full CP tickets being 5-1 in our favor with the same team and staff.

Do you honestly see Aberdeen, Motherwell, Inverness, Dundeeutd, St.Johnstone, * it even Hearts losing to them?

The old days are dead and thank * for it.

I've missed Old Firm games. Hunskelping was immense.

I've not missed them being in the league at all though, I've loved every second of it. Being rid of there bigotry and bile has been extremely refreshing.

I've not missed the shower of sub-human scum one bit.

Yes, even the "decent" ones.... :56::56::56::56: (enough on that embarrassing thread which even the Lurkers would find pathetic how many are sticking up for THEM)..

Have I missed the Old Firm games.... well when we beat Barcelona at Celtic Park I can't say I remember missing the Old Firm games too much. We're a champions league regular club now...... that's what I crave for, big matches and big victories against clubs 100 times bigger than Oldco or Sevco.

    Don't miss the club.

I miss the games against them and I miss the competitiveness of a league with them in it.

As much as i hate Rangers we need them in our league! Scottish footballs a sham without Rangers challenging us for the league its * and boring. I dont look forward to playing teams like * Ross County and Inverness every week with * atmospheres. The Rangers game was always the game i looked forward to the most without doubt and without them to challenge us for leagues scottish football is *

I actually like Scottish football better as a whole without them in the league. The challenge for 2nd place is exciting, for the first time ever I can actually sit and watch games like Aberdeen-Dundee United or the Highland derby and be entertained.

Yeh, nobody comes close to us. But we don't NEED them in the league. Agree with missing the big derby games though, no better feeling. They as a team and fans can * off though.

I think the level of the other teams has risen quite dramatically without them.
