posting on another thread , i commented how i am from the south east of england , and how i often see celtic fans , but have never seen a hun . i dont think alot of scottish tims realsie just how big celtic are down here , in comparison to rangers. celtic have a brand and appeal , and an originality. plus a bigger stadium , and our big fanbase down south makes most english people see us as a far bigger club . i found this thread on a neutral forum , aout the biggest club in britain , and we are placed above rangers in every single post.

they are not the * people , believe me. celtic are represented far better in England , and are seen as a much bigger club.

I believe you. Even here in the States I often see Celtic tops, but I've never seen anyone in Rankers gear. It's hard to push the "We Are The People" crap in a place as diverse as... well, the whole world.

It's not just down south, but quite true across the world. Indeed, I'd go further & say that it is one of the great dichotomies when comparing the philosophies, not only of the 2 clubs, but of their respective supporters.

The Huns, both club & fans alike, are very insular in their perceptions, about protecting what they believe to be theirs by right. This can stem from even looking at the sectarian nature of the club, but also the 'loyalist' line over Belfast & the north of Ireland. Even to the extent of songs such as the 'Famine Song ', which is all about 'go home, we don't want you in Glasgow/Scotland anymore'; tellingly that they percieve Glasgow & Scotland to be 'their' home & that those with views other than what they share, then home to those people is elsewhere.

Whereas the Celtic support, perhaps because of it's more tolerant & accepting stances have a far more outreaching appeal and vision. Perhaps because the Irish have settled in such a span across the globe & this influence has followed. But it is not just this celebration of the Irish heritage that exists at Celtic & across the world. As I type this the Hoops are on a jet, winging their way to the other side of the world to play games in Australia. Previously they have played games in Asia & America also. Something like the Thai Tims is also a great advertisement as to the good that Celtic can do, through it's fans, as a unifying force in the greater 'global' community.

The relative reality is that Scotland & NI will always be the heartland of the R****** support, but that away from these areas their sphere of influence is infinately less, especially when compared with what Celtic's is, on a European & indeed, global scale.

    I'm not picky.
Very true. I mentioned in another post as well that when wearing my Celtic shirt it's been recognised and I've had comments but I have never, ever seen a Hun FC top over here - even when I was in a football shop. Even when I was in England a good few times I had the odd joke comments about Hun FC but more often that not I've had comments from fellow Celtic supporters or people just recognising the top.

I've always believed that we have had the bigger following and it's actually being proved no matter where people go now. I've even seen guys wearing Celtic tops in the crowds when I used to watch the WWE for * sake :icon_mrgreen: Plus 160 worldwide supporters clubs can't be wrong either :50:

"We are the people" my * *!! More like "we are the minority".

Ive seen hun tops around DC. But they're always on Scottish people or people from the North of Ireland. Never on Americans or people not from the UK & Ireland.

My jersey is recognised and I get comments when I am out very frequently. I doubt a Rangers jersey would get nearly as much attention.

Totally agree we are a bigger club. I live in Panama and worked all over the Latin America Region. I've never seen a Rankers top being worn there (except by a Hun on holiday) but I've seen Hoops tops for sale in various parts of Mexico and Panama. Last month when I was back home I bumped into a guy from Venezula, now working in Panama and he was wearing the all green away strip celebrating the 40th Anniversary of us winning the Big Cup. I've also seen kids running around Panama wearing Celtic tops and always get comments when I've got my Hoops top on as well.........

I live quite near, in Exeter, and have seen quite a few more Celtic shirts than hun ones. However, it is rare to see either. Places like Torquay have supporters clubs though which is pretty impressive.

I love wearing my hoops on holiday, love when people recognise it, and even when I see locals wearing Celtic merch. Makes me proud.

We are a bigger club in every sense to Rankers.

I agree, i am from Paisley, but have lived down here in Kent for over 10 years.
I think i have seen about 5 people with Rankers tops and 3 of them was a guy and his 2 fat sons :56:.
I have probably seen hundreds of Celtic. In fact when i moved into my current house i was wearing an old Celtic shirt when we pulled up in the van and i had a woman say "Thats a lovely shirt to be wearing" with a big grin (i have since got to know her and her family well, although her other half is an Arsenal fan *sigh*), and a guy on his balcony start singing "For it's a grand old team to play for..." wearing nothing but a pair of Celtic shorts - and he's only been to Scotland twice and the second time he went to CP. Been pretty hardcore since.
One thing that isnt the case since Sports World(Direct) got taken over by a hun, is that you would always get all the Celtic shirts and training gear, key-rings, mugs and calenders in their shops down here - never Rankers.
Now we dont get any of either :56:

Back in the MON days I used to go down the pub with my dad every time to watch the derby and it was always packed with Celts ( admittedly I was related to most of them :p ) but there was never any R*ngers fans apart from one time, which was amazingly the 6-2 game but we never saw him again after that. I think in England would most likely want Celtic to win in contrast to R*ngers aswell

Liverpool fans prefer us, as will probably City because of what the huns did to their city and Spurs. Maybe with the exception of Chelsea and the remaining clubs being indifferent Celtic are bigger than R*ngers.

The Huns have already conceded defeat in this debate.

Here are the wise words of former Rangers director, Hugh Adam:-

I have been to Canada and have spotted Celtic tops worn by fans and hanging up in shops - no Rankers gear.
There is a pub at Alicante Airport with a signed Celtic shirt hanging on the wall which I spotted while wearing my hoops top! :D
There is a sports shop in Heathrow Airport which selss all the English gear and Celtic tops - no room for Rankers...
I have also met a few Celtic supporters in Portugal and even saw a fake Larsson 7 top in a Portuguese shop. I have been stopped in all sorts of places to talk about the football when wearing the Hoops top. Folk love it! We must be one of the most recognisable football clubs in the world.
I do worry about the club's standing in world football though... Lack of Champions League football and the rise of the Premier League... You now see Arsenal and Chelsea tops (with Liverpool and Man Utd tops though they were always popular) in Africa and the Far East and I can't help but think a few years ago that would have been a Celtic top... I would hate for a smaller club with little history and appeal other than playing in the EPL to take our spot on the global stage...

I'd like to see what South Korean's think about Celtic. Japanese folk loves us when we had Nakamura and I wonder what sort of appeal Ki and Cha have brought to Celtic in SK...

Celtic is by far a bigger club and I think some huns would even agree (at a push) to that. You just have to look at the crowds Celtic get when they go anywhere in the world.

Everywhere I've being in the world I've seen the famous green and white hoops, never seen the generic blue of rangers though.

When abroad in the wee sell everything shops, you know - flip flops, buckets & spades, sunglasses, beach towels & football tops.

There are always the big clubs, Barca, Real, ManUre, Arsenal & Celtic.

I always have a look to see if there's a Rangers shirt & I've never seen one, but always the Hoops.
