That's the board's job, not ours.

I want the best manager available: probability alone tells me that is unlikely to be Lennon.

Plucking a name out of the air that I think we should be able to attract is the likes of Rudi Garcia at Marseille. Would be a difficult ask, definitely, but there is no reason if we show sufficient ambition that we couldn’t get guys like that.

We haven’t got that ambition for me.

Think as a manager The Fraud has still a lot of evolving to do also mate, especially on the European stage where he was shown up as being tactically naive and perhaps a bit to adventurous in his approach - trying to play fitba like Barca against Barca with players far too inferior to Barca was madness.

He's only about 3/4 years older than Rose, but obviously has a vast amount of coaching experience over him.

Personally I wouldn't bother too much about comparing experience with a manager, but we need someone who is creative, has a vision and a tactical brain to put it all together. If that means an up and coming manager, then so be it.

Look a the job wee Eddie Howe is doing with Bournemouth - sensational, regardless of any up and down periods in his tenure. It's the same even with the likes of that ugly * Southgate with England, someone willing to adapt and play to a team's strengths, and bring in players who fit the pieces of the puzzle.

Well of course it isn’t. Mourinho’s out of work, Conte’s out of work...

The question is and always has been who is available to us and what the best option for us is, in time to get prepared for the qualifiers.

If I was plucking a name out it would be Cocu.

    Ticks almost every box:

    -out of contract

-experience as a title winner, both player and manager

    -managed in a better league

    -managed better players

-looking to resurrect his reputation after a bad last managerial experience

    - out of contract/no compensation required

100% agree mate. Rodgers is incapable of evolving though I think, he showed that here in Europe, a bit more pragmatism and he could be one of the top managers in the world.

    Seems absolutely beyond him though.

He will fall on his * next season with Leicester I think, the sharks in the PL will not stand for any periods of anything other than winning.

Which is good because * him.

Aye, no doubt mate. Would be a good acquisition.

We would just need to hope he picks up on what works in Scotland very quickly, the lay of the land very quickly and doesn’t think it’s a canter here.

That’s the biggest danger of approaching somebody like that for me. We need the right attitude, all through the club.

We should, at least, ask the question though - start at the top, be a bit unrealistic even, and work our way down.

Aye? I think when the qualifiers start in 3 months, we need a major rebuild in the summer to get ready for those qualifiers and the fight for 9 in a row, if we spend 2 months of that chasing somebody that we’ll never get like Arsene Wenger then we’re * morons.

The best attainable, then. No one expects us to lure Conte or Mourinho to Celtic Park.

No one suggested that we should do that.

You literally just said start at the best, even if they’re unrealistic. We need somebody in to build for next season * pronto, we don’t have time to * about.

You have. Unless you’re suggesting we go out scatter gun, try and go to every manager we think could be decent ‘do you want the job? Do you want the job?’

    There’s ways to do things.

Of course it's the boards job to assess candidates but people on here are demanding a top level manager without actually giving an example of someone they want that is realistic.

Other than a guy who's out of work that's looking to rebuild his reputation eg. the rat, under our current structure I don't think we're an attractive proposition for any genuine 'top level manager'.

Without doubt, look at the mess even Paul le Guen inherited when he took over at the monkeys.

I shat myself when I heard he had got the job, and thank * for * like Ferguson and McGregor more or less sabotaging his tenure.

Our next manager will 100% be someone who isn't attached to a club. Most "attractive" names I can see on the list of freebies are (and bearing in mind some of them may be pie in the sky stuff):

    Neil Lennon
    Stefano Pioli
    Miguel Cardoso
    Slavisa Jokanovic
    Carlos Carvalhal
    Philip Cocu
    Juande Ramos
    Thomas Christansen
    Torsten Frings
    Domenico Tedescho

Managers who are attainable, but whose appointment would require us to show a bit of ambition.

I don’t think we’re attractive to any ‘top level manager’

The ones out of work at the moment, I’d say are top level (and I’d argue about 2 of these fitting that criteria these days) are Wenger, Mourinho and Conte.

I guess that Lennon is the only option.
