Unless we get a ridiculous offer (£25 million +) i think he's staying.

He's far too important to how we play, and I'd much, much rather we lost him next year for a lower fee than sell him this season.

To stay on topic, be interesting to see what happens with Osmund if Yamada signs. No use putting him with the youths, but no use having him as 4th choice ST either, wonder if we'll maybe loan him nearer the end of the window.

Joey Dawson was plucked from the youth team of a League Two side, it was an odd signing to be honest. There have been some other failures like Shaw, Urighede and Connell. They were all pinches from teams that came bottom of the championship and couldn't afford to pay their players. Yeah there have been failures, but I could imagine we could look at every country we've scouted and find successes and failures.

No guarantees with any player/league/reputation but at least this is a minor fee spent for someone highly rated in his age group.

If Osmand turned out to be anywhere near the level of Dembele that would be incredible. Not expecting that at all but would love for it to happen of course. I do think your right though this is clearly not a straight up signing for the B team that is a total pie in the sky punt for the first team. I have to think this means there is a very good chance we sell Kenny this summer and that Osmand is right away seen at least as that third option up front for the first team.

Defo man not saying it isn't a signing worth taking a punt on or anything. Just not the kind that overly excites me in general. But aye there are successes and failures all over the place

I think we'll get that fee for him no problem after the season he's just had. And from Celtic's point of view they'll want to cash in on him when his value is at its peak. I just have a sneaking feeling he's away. Would explain why we're also still interested in Yamada as well.

Brendan Rodgers has laid out his vision for Celtic’s latest signing Callum Osmand, following the youngster’s move from Fulham.

The 19-year-old forward arrived on Monday, signing for the Hoops despite never having made a senior appearance.

Osmand’s signing marks another step in Celtic’s push to bring in promising talent with a view to development within the first-team environment. While the striker has yet to prove himself at senior level, he arrives with a growing reputation and was reportedly on the radar of several clubs.

Rodgers was quick to emphasise the club’s long-term thinking with the move. The Irishman has confirmed that Osmand will be involved in pre-season, giving the coaching staff a chance to assess his readiness and potential role in the squad.

Rodgers made clear that Celtic see the teenager as more than just a project, praising his attributes and emphasising the club’s confidence in the move. It’s a measured but optimistic stance as Rodgers looks to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign.

He said: (Celtic TV), “He wants to be a part of a first-team set-up where he can come and grow and develop, and obviously here, this is what this environment is built for.

So, we see him as a really exciting young talent, bags of pace, scores goals, and like you say, he was really coveted by a number of teams, so we’re delighted to get Callum up here, and we’ll have a look in pre-season and see where he’s at from there.”

While there’s no immediate expectation for Osmond to break into the starting XI, Celtic clearly believe they’ve secured a player with potential. The forward will be given a platform in pre-season to show what he can offer, with decisions to be made from there.

It’s not the first time Celtic have moved early for young talent, and Osmond will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of players who’ve successfully transitioned into the senior set-up from similar beginnings. His pace and goalscoring instinct mark him out as one to watch.

With the transfer window now open, the focus turns to how Rodgers will shape his squad, balancing experience with emerging players like Osmond. It’s another sign of a longer-term approach underpinning Celtic’s recruitment this summer.

He’s your 1 of 3 for next season and with any luck he fulfils his potential and makes the spot his own.

I think it's mental the fanfare the club are giving a player who's never played a senior game. I suppose it's nice for the lad but don't kid on to me this is an important signing when he's never even had minutes off the bench.

And I know people will say Dembele and all the rest of it. Dembele had played about 50 games for Fulham before he signed for us. All the 'this guy will start for us, I've just got a feeling' patter is pure magical thinking. When you've got £9m tied up in a striker, he starts until he's sold.

Difference between £9m and the new bhoy? If the new one scores 20 from the bench at his age he'll be off for near £30m. Yet idah wasnt good enough.

If I had wheels I'd be a bicycle. He's not played a game, where are you getting 20 off the bench from?

I think I get what you're saying actually. But we're still going to be playing Idah, whether he's good enough or not.

I like idah. No his fault the midfielders give the ball back to the defenders when ever he makes a run. I'd give up and be lazy then aswel :56:

However if this boys as talented as they say, he may just push his way onto starting. We won't know until a good 5/6 games in. We're not exactly great at giving youth a chance. Until then, mays well stay positive about the lad. Give him confidence because we all know young guys go online and read this stuff.

There’s been no fanfare over this signing. He’s been officially announced with some photos of him with his shirt number, an interview, and Rodgers has said he’s delighted to sign him and he has a plan for him.

In what world is that a fanfare?

Giving him an interview with Rodgers involved is a decent amount of fanfare.

What concerns me is if they're trying to sell this guy to us as our new second striker. This guy may have talent but he hasn't played a minute of senior football. Naw, I'm sorry, giving some kid a press conference doesn't tick the box. You still owe us a second striker.

You're massively reaching. There's been no fanfare, and there's no hint they're trying to sell him as our second striker. It's literally had the same coverage as nearly every signing we make. A photoshoot, an interview and the manager commenting on the signing.

And btw, there's absolutely reason to be quite excited over this signing. Tore it up for Fulham youth teams and by all accounts was deserving of a chance with their first team squad, but Marco Silva isn't one for promoting youth players all that often.

We'll need to see how the rest of the window goes, but I'd say there's a good chance Maeda will be our first choice striker, with Idah and Osmand playing back up.

I genuinely don't get posts like this.

To start with, there's no major fanfare, he got an announcement and some people are excited over it.

Second, even if there was, who cares? He was highly rated down south so some people will be excited for it.

    You are vastly over-analysing this.

Do you think we should ignore players when they sign and tell them their name will not be mentioned on social media by the club or by the manager until they've earned it?

I think if it's like a youth signing, you don't give it much more than a brief announcement on social media. That's the standard.

Right, so our second striker then, given that Maeda is our first-choice winger.

This is what winds me up. He's not played a * game. Tore it up for Fulham youth team, give me a break.

I know I'm being a * * about it. But I just can't eat this slop. We trade away our best striker, the overpriced stand-in can't lace his boots, and our replacement is... some guy that's never played a game of professional football. And we're meant to be excited. I'm not, it's * served up as caviar.
