maybe the most galling aspect of this ,is that * lawwell jr was brought in as head of recruitment and now all of sudden we dont actualy need one .christ it was great when ange was here it seemed like some * knew what they were doing ,after the last 2 windows i have zero confidence that we will get the players or the number of players we need to improve the first team

 

Fundamentally, I do think the leadership team at the club are probably not good enough overall.

I think there are a lot of very average people in senior positions and that ultimately means we are not and will not reach our full potential. An average leadership means we will tick along - that may mean doing well domestically but in no way will push our boundaries or develop the club to its potential.

In their defence, they are a safe pair of hands, risk averse and we will never be in financial turmoil, but unfortunately the trade off is a conservative and incredibly stifling strategy/culture/decision making.

A genuinely ambitious, credible and talented leadership team would not focus on what we can’t do but instead focus on opportunities, seek the art of possible and use lateral thinking. Unfortunately the way we go about business and plethora of excuses that are wheeled out every year suggests that we do not have the right people in charge of the PLC.

I think on the back of 6 or 7 poor transfer windows, there is a right for supporters to become increasingly frustrated.

My understanding (from what I hear) is that Bain will be starting the league in goals - the aim is to have someone in time for Rangers game on 1st September but hoping to tie something up by the end of August when the dynamic of the transfer window is fully known. If nothing by 1st September then then the free agent market will be used as appropriate.

Really concerning if that is the case but likewise it really wouldn’t surprise me.

Frustration will continue to build if there are no notable signings over the next month.

Owen Beck had a good game against half fit Maeda at Xmas time and folk were falling over themselves for us to sign him. He isn’t good enough and wouldn’t be an upgrade on Taylor. That is the level of scouting I’d expect from us though so I wouldn’t rule him out. Really need to be seeing guys brought in over the next week or two. Gives them time to settle in a bit before the league starts. I’m expecting a * window though. You couldn’t mark our board members necks with a blowtorch.

 

I was desperate and wanted Beck. I’m now still desperate but don’t want Beck (at least not as first choice).

The lack of links to any LBs is frightening, at least were being linked with goalkeepers lol

 

The idea was killed off when he got absolutely roasted by Yang at parkhead on the 6 - 0 game.

Ur right tho it is the level of scouting you'd expect from a club who searched the globe for a head of recruitment and then gave it to the chairmans son

Of course not mate, it's only just over 3wks to start of season. We're in tip top shape.

 

Why? Beck is another laughably overrated footballer who has somehow developed a following among many Celtic fans which is far at odds with his actual ability. Greg Taylor is a better player than Beck and almost every Tim agrees that we need better than him.

There are so many moving parts on the go just now.

Our negotiating teams/manager and anyone else involved in transfers are not so negligent for us to be going into the season with zero signings and Scott Bain as our only "recognised" goalie.

Time for every one to reign it in and keep the heid and let them do their job(s).

We'll get signings in, no doubt.. will they be the right calibre is more of the issue.

The 'moving parts' are the issue for me. We emptied Lawwell Jnr & Dudgeon at the beginning of March. So who's actually in charge of the recruitment?

Rodgers is an excellent coach, but are we expecting him to be the main man when it comes to recruitment too? No other elite minded club operates the way we do. Reactive and haphazard in the way we tackle recruitment.

Are people overreacting, absolutely. Do I blame them absolutely not..

We should be aiming much much higher. We badly need fresh eyes cast over our whole footballing operation.
