Anyone else think that the best beer (like the best music) is not found in the most obvious of places, and that you have to go looking (or start thinking) that wee bit harder in order to find it?

I say this because I'm currently quaffing a few of these babies:

The landlord in my local has a great appreciation for non-commercial beers and ales, and I trust his judgement, so I'll happily lift anything unusual out of his fridge.

Thing is, the quality of these beers is staggering. Light years ahead of yer Carlings, Carlsbergs, Harps, Tennent's etc.

    A different experience altogether.

Seems to be more readily available in Irish Bars abroad than at home.

Used to be mad on it myself (years since I drank it though), and actually, that German stuff I'm drinking now isn't a million miles away from it. A bit lighter, and a touch fruitier, but if you're into Kilkenny, it won't go down too badly.

One time when I was in Edinburgh I had a Czech beer. I was the best beer I've ever had. Been searching for it ever since.

Also raspberry and cherry flavoured beer is nice, got a low % but taste quality.

Witherspoons do a good range of Real Ale & they're all under £1.80a pint - * great!!

Aldi do a good box of mixed beers for about £1 a bottle, thats good too.

I used to brew my own, I'm going to get back into it next month when I move house.
