What’s the situation with this? Is construction ongoing and is it a full-size indoor pitch?

Some difference from "The Torch" and "The Spur" running about slashing one and other cause they lived at opposite ends of the street. That Barrowfield was rough as * when I was a kid going to the games

Aye that's been the main thing for the first team since it was announced a few years ago, getting a full size indoor pitch because there isn't one at lennoxtown, should have happened years ago tbh, rest of it upgraded facilities for the women/academy/b-team to use with some new stands to spectate their games so we're not using airdrie stadium anymore.

    So what’s happening?

I’m sure this was first announced about 5 years ago and yet still nothing is in the process of being constructed.

I remember Rodgers being quite big on this first time round. He wanted the outdoor cover for Lennoxtown didn’t he?

I wonder if he’ll end up moving much of our training to barrowfield.

I assume it would be moved only if the weather was really bad and we needed to be indoors so we could keep training properly. Would be a big benefit to the team no question. I wonder is this maybe one of the things he asked for when agreeing to return. Hope this is happening.

I've always wondered about indoor training in bad weather.

It's always bad weather in Scotland. Shouldn't we train in the same conditions we play in?

    Maybe I'm missing something.

A bit away from actual Barrowfield, that's the other side of Celtic Park behind the supporters club.

In the 70's at the big European nights of 75/80,000 we used to have to park a good bit away and l was always asking my dad why we couldn't park in Barrowfield next to the stadium when the place was empty................I later learned why :88:

Aye I dont think it makes sense having anything to do with Airdrie whatsoever. It would be like us opening a training facility in Larkhall.

Aye, its definitely a dilemma as the players could 'soften', maybe we're too old school..

On the other hand..Think we have undersoil heating at Lennoxtown however those pitches must become a nightmare to train on in constant bad weather, so it makes sense to have indoor facilities, think most top clubs will have that..

Remember Brendan asking for it last time he was here, seem slow to get it sorted.

Probably better for when there's a massive cold snap with snow on the ground for a fortnight. Can keep training.

Theres been times over the years when players have had to train on the pitch at parkhead due to weather being so bad that they couldn't even get to Lennoxtown so having indoor facility not away up a hill in middle of winter will definitely be beneficial.

Think Rodgers had spoken previously about quality of work being able to he done on days like that too where it was important to keep players moving and wasn't able to stop sessions to give much tactical detail. Much easier to do that indoor

from parkhead glasgow but now live in merseyside

It’s mad how the training ground is called Barrowfield but it’s in Parkhead just along fae where I used to Live on Williamson Street.

Barrowfield has changed so much since them days with all the closes being knocked down and mostly back and front doors now.
