You thinking the deals like crossas has with celtic will be a no go in the future ?
i dont see lots of young barca players going to america to play ,its not exactly a great league to play in ,and im thinking you could go there and be forgotting about ,maybe barca will do something ,but maybe getting players from south america to play ,young talent on there books from there .

They produce the best footballers in Europe. Even with Crosas you can tell being technically better, you can play maybe a year earlier than any other youngster coming through. It must be to do with coaching.

It'll be to take advantage of any new talent from both south and north america.

This has zero chance of going through... Barca has absolutely and completely insulted MLS by presuming that they're going to get this bid when they are competing against about 5-8 bids that are much, much better. They don't intend to build their own stadium, they have openly said they will recruit old, aging players, and they have generally treated MLS like it's the same league their Athletic team is in. (Like the 5th division of Spanish football)

It's ridiculous and this has made me lose an enormous amount of respect for them. So A) it's not going to happen, and B) we aren't a feeder club so this doesn't matter anyways... even if they weren't being insulting with their overconfidence.

I think they'll get their Miami team eventually. Probably not the next 2 bids, but if they're serious they'll make it happen.

Anyway, it won't effect Celtic much. We're not exactly raking in these "Crosas deals" to begin with, and do you think they'd send a promising youngster to MLS for training or to a side consistently competing in Champions League?
MLS fanatics won't see it that way but any exchange of players would be mostly one-way traffic. Except possibly some retirees looking to enjoy the warm climate of Miami.

It's too much risk for a market that's already failed with a team that clearly doesn't understand and is unwilling to learn how MLS works. They've already stated they have a roster for 2010... did I miss the expansion draft or something? :87:

Miami fans are fickle, they may be drawn out at first by the name, but as you suggest once they find out that Bojan and Messi aren't coming over they will leave... especially since expansion teams in MLS are always awful. Chivas already tried what Barca are going to and it was a disaster their first season. In MLS' view, there are other places that make so much more sense including NYC, Montreal, Vancouver, St. Louis, and even places like Portland and Ottowa have submitted plans that are miles ahead of Barca's. Barca will likely have to wait an extremely long time because MLS doesn't want to dilute the talent pool, and I doubt they'd take rejection well and wait for a few years.

Plus, Chivas USA struggles mightily with attendance despite having a latino population greater than the entire city of Miami. I just don't see this working despite Barca's "name." Also, the financial particulars they have are severely misguided... they said they intended to make a profit of something like 5 million dollars per year. :56: This is when the league is hemorrhaging money in successful markets like DC where they don't have their own stadium.

If you allow me a wee correction, Barça Atlètic is in Segunda División B, which is the third division after La Liga and Segunda División A. Current Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola made the team promote last season.
