I personally believe there have been too many occaisions were we should have won alot more but sadly we didnt. I thnink this season sums it up perfectly defeated by two lesser clubs sees us loose out in another treble or double.

We trail rangers in domestic trebles by 7 to 3
league and league cup doubles by 17 to 8
League and cup doubles 17 to 13

I obviously believe we have under achieved in europe in the last 40 years apart from 2 or 3 seasons one in which we actually got to a final, and the other two we surpassed the group stages to get to the KO stage.

I know i will get alot of stick for this, but instead of blaim everyone i think we just have hobbit of not getting the job done.

I Donot in any instance believe neil lennon to be the wrong man for the job i feel he his doing as well as anyone else. I could just be blinded by the last two seasons and the potential to humiliate rangers and bring home 5 or 6 trophies.. but maybe that will come in the next few seasons .

No, in fact quite the opposite. Polarised by the fact we won the biggest trophy in club football with a group of men born within a 15 mile radius.

No, we are not. We are a club with a fabulous on field history and a long list of honours to our name.

No our honours were all won fairly. I'd rather that be associated with the cheating titles and trophies won by the scum.

Regarding Europe there's no doubt we probably could have done better but as in any knock out tournament sometimes things just don't go your way.

    This, 110% this. :50:

And add to that all the times where we were playing against 12 men. We have been a rather successful club.
We have been mismanaged in the past, but now we can start to look forward to a bright, Green & White future.

In the last half century we have won the European Cup and appeared in two other European finals. I'd say that's pretty good shooting for a Scottish club.

There have been lean times in Europe as well but that's true of most clubs. Barcelona had never won the European Cup until 1992 and Manchester Utd had only won it once up until 1999. You could easily argue that they weren't fulfilling their potential either.

Yes we could've won more but we have a proud history, the OP has failed to mention the EC that's one trophy the manky mob will never win, also we've won more SC's.

It's just a case of whether you want to focus on the positive or the negative, at least we're not cheats we can hold our heads up high :shamrock:

With a bit of luck, we could have done better in away CL games. Maybe if we had Boruc during the MON era we could have got good results in Munich and Lyon. Also under WGS we were a pen decision away from knocking out Milan in the San Siro. There have been several games where we have under performed or lost due to individual errors.

But then again, we have over achieved in European games as well beating a lot of the best at home including the Seville run and knocking Barca out the UEFA.

I'd much rather have our achievements, which have been won fairly - and in many cases, against the odds - given the cheating, bigotry and corruption we've been up against since our inception; rather than having a tainted history in an average league.

I wouldn't say we've under-ahieved as such, as time has went on since 1967 football has changed. More money has come into the game and Scottish football in general has dropped which has meant we're trying to contend with the big boys on a budget which most of the time just isn't going to work.

Add to that that the Huns were over-spending when we were going through financial troubles means we've achieved well.

    I agree with Markybhoy 100%

Tim, why do you assume we have any right to be any more successful than we have been? There are plenty of historically big teams who havent won the european cup final in their history (Sporting Lisbon, Dynamo Kiev, Galatasaray, Valencia, Rangers) and even in the modern era there are many new-money teams who have spent hundreds of millions and play in richest leagues and still cant do it (Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City).

Of course I would like to see more European success, but I dont see any reason to think we are underachieving by not getting it.

I'd suggest, on our budget, getting to the last 16 twice is a massive over-achievement. We aren't under-achievers at all.

No and I have never thought we are, I'd like to see all of these clubs that are worth more than quarter of a billion achieve everything they have with a budget like ours. I know quite a few people that let the value of club mask them of that clubs real ability.

I'm just glad to know when things come crashing down for football that financially we'll be safe because we don't spend tens of millions on players.

Yes agreed.Last two seasons typical example of not hoovering up trophies that were there for the taking. Quite strange how most on here are happy with the odd win here and there.Seems like most always see Rangers as the bigger club and were happy to play second fiddle.
