Was looking to get one that would allow me to watch Sky and BT sports for the football. Also latest movies.

    Any help and advice guys?

I'm the same as Gercelt, anyone got tips/suggestions on Android boxes. I see some on ebay and Amazon for £50-£80 what should I be looking for, and is there a preffered option ?

Done a lot of research on these. Basically brilliant for watching movies, TV shows etc but terrible for live sports. Putting modbro on your android tablet/ phone would be as good for watching live sports

Got one just this week Model is Droidbox T8. I was quite disappointed at the start but this was mainly down to my little understanding of how to use it.

Although, as I played about with it more and downloaded more add-on's I found out that it is certainly worth £100.00; you can watch any movie or TV shows you wish and with regards to sports any sports channel in the world, some of the stream are of higher quality than others, but for an up front payment and no annual or monthly subscription fee you really can't complain.

I'm already planning on buying another couple for some of the other rooms, so there's an answer in its self. Go for it.

    Cheers,

    Johnny.

Have not tried any android boxes but have used a Raspberry Pi with KODI previously. It works ok, but is a bit of pain to set up.

The easiest way is to use KODI on an android tablet or phone and cast the screen to the tv using a chromecast. This works really well. A chromecast is £30.

As said above KODI is excellent for movies and tv but the streams for live sports are much less good. The best I have found is ZemTV how-to-install-zemtv-for-xbmc-kodi/
This has a bunch of Indian channels but also has all the Sky sports channels. The quality/reliability is very good.

I have been using these for a few years, had 3/4 boxes. Great for Movies and TV. If you want decent quality sports, best thing is get a paid subscription for around £5 a month. All sky and BT channels and also Celtic TV in HD. If anyone needs any details PM me.
