It's not really surprising epl teams are going for similar players to us, I'm sure Lambert doesn't read the Daily Mail gossip column, see which players are linked with us and then declare an interest

at the end of the day, if he wants to sign for them over us, then hes probably not got the right sort of footballing ethics that we need at this club, if he signs then fair enough

Have to laugh at Villa, £2 million already accepted so they bid 3.5...BPL teams have so much cash they don't know what to do with it.

 

Aye we actually have a pretty good recent record for signings when Prem clubs are interested. It's the Bundesliga that seem to always steal our targets. :icon_mrgreen: (Milik, Shechter, Musona, Amini etc)

Haha, not at all. Aye I noticed it in January, we seemed to be linked with the same players.

 

It's not over yet. These are just numbers that are randomly picked out of a hat. It certainly isn't easy to fend off a team like Villa. Signing for Villa does however, involve living in Birmingham.

Villa can offer the wages, we can offer the Champions League - and money can't give you the same experience. It's agents and club officials trying to put the price up. I don't see how you would pay 3.5 if 2 was enough. One, or both of these numbers are wrong, right now it's just speculation. We got in their first and if he wants to go and play in the Premiership he can go after a couple of seasons here.

One thing is for sure - nobody is certain how far this team can go. We went to the last 16 with no transfer budget FFS. Hopefully something can happen with Tonev, but if not, good luck to the boy.

I asked a few Poznan fans about Tonev.

This is what they said:
"There has been talk, the whole season in Polish media that Tonev will join Celtic. Tonev is inconsistent, some parts of the season he was brilliant - scoring goals, making great passes. But he can also play pretty bad, and miss a lot.
He has a lot of pace, especially when it comes to counter attacks. I think he would fit the playing style of Celtic's CL football, it is up to Tonev to bring his success, but if he is up there and you play him right, he could be very useful. However, he is one of those player who creates something, a tricky player with other words.
I also want to add that Lech Poznan have lacked in counter attacks, and offensive football when Tonev was injured."

Another guy "Tonev has developed a lot during his time in Lech. Its too bad that Lech has been pretty bad, and that the owners have not invested in the team, its their fault really. Celtic would get a fast winger, with good technique who is also capped."
