Hi there, my name is Caesar, I'm writing from Italy. (I'm sorry for my extremely bad english)

My love for Celtic has begun when I was a ten year old boy: I have been strongly impressed by Celtic's fabolous shirt - the best in the world, in my opinion -by the dark charm of the word "Celtic" - something that I still can't explain - and from the fantastic history of the club.

My friends and parents have been asking me for decades:"Why do you support Celtic? It's a scottish team, you're not scottish!", and my answer was always the same:"Well, I don't know. I only know that when I read the word "Celtic", when I see the green and white shirt on the field, something blazes inside me, an extraordinarily strong emotion, an emotion who makes it impossible for me to take my eyes off the screen, and who makes me follow every Celtic game with a sort of religious fear. I simply know that Celtic is my team, and nothing in the world can change it, even if I'm italian. It's a fact."

Since I was a boy I grew up, and I've been three times at Celtic park: It was simply amazing.

About six or seven years ago I've known some italian guys with my same passion: they were Celtic supportes, just like me! It was incredible.

However, their passion - as well as that of a large segment of the Celtic fans around the world - seems to be rooted in politics, only in politics.

I'm a supporter of Celtic because i love CELTIC, not because of my political beliefs.

I perfectly know what Celtic represents for millions of people, something who deals with their personal identity, with the history of their fathers.

Here's the key question: is my impression correct? Why the majority of the fans support Celtic? Just for political reasons? Or because an inexplicable love for the team?

Ok, so your answer is: I support Celtic because I was born in Glasgow. Ok.

Loved the club since my grandad took me to a game when I was only 4 and a half years old, seen green and white and never looked back.

For me it had nothing to do with politics just my grandad who loved Celtic in the way I love them now.

Most people, at least in the UK and Ireland, support Celtic because their family do and over here it's basically an unwritten rule that you follow your dad's team!

As people get older they then learn more about the political and historical aspect and I think that makes people love Celtic more as we are more than just an average football club, certainly originally we were set up with unique reasons and there are many things which set Celtic aside from any other club on Earth - such as being founded as a charity to help poor people and being the only side to win a major tournament with solely homegrown players and staff.

Ok, that's another interesting answer: I support Celtic because my family do.

What about the emotion, the inner feelings connected to the team?

As I said, they come after. When you are 1 year old you don't understand anything about politics or feelings, but after getting introduced to the club and maturing you understand and appreciate those things.

It is normally the immediate paternal family who introduce you to Celtic, and then the wider "Celtic family" who make you love the club and feel part of it for years afterwards even when your family are no longer there.

I was born in the Gorbals in Glasgow my whole family which are many supported Celtic and as I grew up and came to the realisation of what Celtic means to me and many others, then my love for the club just grew stronger and like you Cesar I am passionate about my club for the love of it not for the politics.

Nice hearing your story, Cassarian. I think most would agree that there's something magnetic about Celtic, something you can't necessarily put your finger on that draws you toward them, unlike a lot of sports teams.

I'm from the US and only started following club football at about the age of 20 (was born in 1984, and you could forget about following clubs here pre-internet). It's been Celtic only for the last 10 years.

I was drawn originally to the romantic story of Celtic, how it was founded as a charity, how it gave a downtrodden people something to celebrate, how it became successful beyond anything people could have imagined, how the passion for the club still burned bright, the rebel songs booming from the stands, and the majestic green and white hoops.

I think people notice Celtic for a million different reasons, whether historical, political, it could be one player, the fans, or something as simple as the colors. Some identify with every single aspect, some are more intrigued with this or that.

Originally because my dad/family did. Then the Celtic fans passion and memories I'll die with cemented them as my club. Most of my greatest memories involve Celtic.

Living in England,I have no idea how these people support English clubs... there seems to be nothing about them. Soulless. There's no such thing as the "Man United family".

Anywhere I go, I seek out a Celtic bar and have friends for the night. I don't think fans of many clubs have that.
