While watching the " sky sucker sunday match" I believe the commentator said, " 70% increase for clubs in the prem next session, Southampton will need to stay out of the bottom three or they will lose ALOT or money".

Why am I paying for Southampton and the rest of the *, when we are lucky not to get a 80% decrease to because we are in Scotland?

I am not going to give sky another penny of my money, would rather give the sky/espn money to the Celtic store.

I am not a maths genius, but if all fans just gave funds direct to the Celts,
I would be sure Celtic would be in an even more better financial position to invest in better players :shamrock::86:

    Rant over :31::31::31:

Sickining the amount even Championship Clubs are getting for being relegated!

I think the SPLs contract is £80million over 5 years. So our whole League is only getting about £14million, which is less than what Championship Clubs who were relegated are getting from the Premier League :54:

Allan Preston said on Radio Scotland today that the team that finishes bottom of the EPL this season will receive more TV money than Man City got last season for winning the EPL!

    Surely this can't be right?!

I heard this too 75 million to be relegated. Manchester City last season didn't even get that for winning the title.

I know sky put their prices up for the whole of the Sky package but if Sly sports costs go up this season or next Ill be removing it I don't see why I should be funding their league any more than I already do and if they never had the money there to begin with why did they win the tv rights with a 3billion pound deal. I just don't get it. Ill just watch streaming online instead.

    £75million?! Is that the figure??!!

That's unbelievable, if true. That really would emphasise what a pittance they are giving us for covering the SPL.

This is exactly the sort of thing that puts me right off football.

It makes the idea of competition pretty * meaningless - the playing field is so uneven as to be out of all proportion...

Ye sure they didn't mean £7.5 million? :97:

Absolutely unreal if they actually do mean £75 million bangers for gettin' relegated. *'a me.

Reading stuff like this makes me ashamed to be a football supporter tbh. Soon enough opposition from other less lucrative leagues would be aswell not turning up for Europe anymore, as the level of competition will become complete and utter farcical.

UEFA & FIFA better start intervening on this pish. *' scandalous.

Football is no longer about who can get the best manager and who can put the best team of players together. It's about money. If you have the most money then the chances are you will be successful. There'll obviously be the odd exception to that rule but for the most part it holds true.

For the team who finishes bottom of the EPL to receive more than 20x the TV money that the Scottish champions do does untold damage to our chances of signing the quality of players that would allow us to do something in Europe. Sky's money also makes it impossible for clubs like Aberdeen and Hibernian to hold on to their better players when footballing goliaths like Leyton Orient and MK Dons show an interest in them.

Sky's money is not the life support machine that is keeping Scottish Football alive. It is the disease that is killing it off.

I love Celtic dearly but my love for football in general is on the wane these days. It's no longer the same sport I watched, and loved, when I was a wee laddie.

Not just this country but in Holland too, Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord can lose their best players to mid table English, German, Italian or even Russian teams. The Dutch were even better than us too I think Dutch clubs have won 6 European Cups, now they wont even get near a Europa League.

Look on the bright side though mate. Making the CL will help offset the disparity - and while English teams are spunking stupid money on average players like Jarvis we still have the ability to compete. The new Sky deal will also only partially cover for the limitations placed on clubs by the new FFP rules.

Talk about a * up economy. Inverness offered me £13.5m for Anthony Stokes on Manager Mode a few days ago.

Why are we comparing what the EPL get compared to the SPL? Why do we have to compete with it?

What Sky pays the EPL has absolutely nothing to do with what they pay us for the SPL rights.

But when it does burst... they can kiss good bye to everything. All the way down the leagues, from the very top all the way down, I'm pretty sure there will be far less clubs and injured giants.
