    not a chance.
strach said (in the record with scott brown) that the team will be built around brown and a few other players, one of the other players is naka, no doubt. really we're lucky if we have 15m

Do you think Strachan would discuss his transfer kitty with his sister? Dunno about that one but it would be good if that were true. We wouldn't even need to spend all that to ensure league success and a good run in Europe.

If we have about 10-15 million and then include 10 million from punting JJ, Grav, Magic, Bobo, Virgo etc (but obviously not Kenny after his quality Aberdeen display:84:) for a fair return and throw in Lenny's wage money etc. Unfortunately I would serously doubt the dead wood will shift. If the figure includes wages for an average of three year contracts then only half the 25 million may be for transfer fees. That would take us back to the 10-15 million being discussed. Cant see us signing any more than two more blue chip players this summer if they are in contract. Got to be a striker and another midfielder (either central or wide).

celtic could easly spend 25 million but why spend that much ?

I would say Strachan has been advised to try keep under 12 million in sales and try get some of it back eg jarosik.

I think the sale of Stan Petrov and getting Wee Lenny off the books has financed the Brown deal
Celtic will try and offload Jiri,Miller,Majic
The mejia will have a field day when some of these guys leave but it
should be remembered that we are also rebuilding for the future,we shouldnt look to ahead of ourselves.

My main worry and I admit it has no substance whatsoever- is that Manchester United will try and sign Boruc, given his excellent performances and penalty save against them, also that Van Der Saar is getting on a bit and that I have yet to hear any connection which seems strange considering Manchester will defo be in the market for a keeper.
Manchester are usually very quite until "and I quote a fat Radio personality" Its a done deal.

We could ideally do with at least three futher new players-a striker, another central midfielder and a wide attaking midfielder. With 4 million the apparent current minimum for a quality in-contract player (unless we are very cunning) thats 12 million and we would probably spend the same in wages for 3 year contracts at 25.000 a week. So., if you take everything into account we would spend 20-odd million on three more blue chip players. Not sure that will happen though.

15 Million would do me, sign up Doumbe for right back, that leaves about 10M - with the Brown signing - for another midfielder and a striker

    Tis true.

Celtic had the money thanks mainly to the sale of Petrov and the CL money to expand the stadium. But seeing as how Rangers have improved, if you can call it that, then Quinn, Lawwell and Strachan had a meeting on whether to spend it on the stadium, or on the transfer market. They chose the market.

They'll not spend anywhere near the £25m, but there will be a good few signings yet to come.

i think that 15£ million is the most that we would ever spend in the close season. 25£ million? nae chance.

Celtic made a profit of 23M this season and will make more money through Preseason matches. Plus there could be more money invested from our majority shareholder I have heard

Could well be, Although I doubt we would spend that in one window

    not in one transfer window.
to be honest, i would not like to spend all that money at one time cos it would make me nervous for the future. no club can continue to shell out millions, it has to end somewhere. so we need to spend the money wisely and buy players that we are actually going to play.

the schoolboy logic of "this is what we made so this is what will be spent in transfer fees" is unrealistic. like has already been said wages need 2 be considered and we cant assume we will bank the money we got last season from automatic qualification to cl.

Also what me made in profit last 6 month report won't be repeated this 6 months as we had the extra CL money to add to the balance sheet.
