This weekend really is proving who the masters of football are. After the * from England yesterday and brilliant entertainment Spanish football gave last night, its back to boring English football.

I bet the "must see" Manchester United v Chelsea game that follows is not much better, and at best, will end in a 1-0.

* there seems to be a lot of bitter people on this forum, and i say bitter just the same as rangers fans as bitter, liveprool of everton fans, man utd of man city fans there seems to be a lot of bitter scot SPL fans.

So many threads and posts here oh EPL is so * there is nobody talking about the SPL on the EPL boards.

There is no doubt the EPL has been less "exciting" than it was last year, but last year it was head and shoulders above la liga. Last year it went down to basically the final two games where 3 teams could have won the title. This year everything is a lot more close through the whole tables, the top 4 are losing points all over the place (is this not you SPL fans used to complain the top 4 always win) and now thats not happening its still *?

 

So because we dont like watching 0-0 draws and the odd 1-0 games, we are bitter?

Bitternes is nothing to do with it, we just know good football when we see it

 

Like Andy said it's nothing to do with bitterness, most English folk I talk to say La Liga is much better than the EPL. It's not to do with the tightness of the league it's the quality of games.

 

Theres a difference between not liking some of the games, the draws and saying well this game was *, todays football was * as you might in some SPL weekends. Or just labelling the whole as * because of those same games. Its clear from your posts and a lot of others theres a huge bias, but thats up to you keep enjoying the world class talent on display at the SPL you're not a bitter hypocrite at all

 

Seen as it's the Best League in the World (tm), we expect a little better.

 

Saying you think la liga is better and the games are better quality wouldnt make you seem bitter at all, its the people who just label the EPL is * constantly whenever theres a few draws or a tough weekend that look bitter. The same people who keep their mouths shut every year when an EPL team is in the CL final.

And the EPL is getting tighter because theres a lot more money, you have relegation favorite teams spending 20,30+ million a season everyone is a lot better than 5 years ago. This leads to more draws and the top 4 not running away with every game.

 

Bias to what, the Spanish league? none of us here are Spanish. So you could say we're neutrals on the subject, as we're not English or Spanish.

We're not talking about the SPL here so why do you keep bringing it up? We're comparing the EPL against La Lega as the English Media always clame the EPL to be the best league in the world, when clearly in terms of entertainment, La Lega is moons ahead of the EPL.

and that's what football is, entertainment.

 

You know what though, its 50/50 on the EPL boards between EPL and la liga, i think most would admit la liga has been better this year. But the overall strentgh of teams is better in the EPL, and the overall support of teams is certainly better. Empty seats all over la liga and the viewing figures are a long way short also.

But you ask the spanish whats the best league the huge percentage will say la liga, same with the italians and serie a. They may label it as the best league in the world here, just like they do in italy and spain with their respective leagues. So why only bring the english and epl on that?

 

The EPL is the most watched league in the world which gives the english media fair shout to say its the best, you know if everybody is watching that league clearly these people think its the most entertainment.

So becase YOU dont that doesnt mean the hundreds and hundreds of millions of people who DO are wrong.

 

I don't agree with that at all, outside the top 4 I don't think any of the EPL teams would stand a chance against their La Liga equivalent. Also you don't get teams like Derby County in La Liga too, you can go into a La Liga game believing an upset can happen.

 

So why have their been FAR more upsets in the epl this year than la liga?

 

Pish. Look at European Competition. Every year, from England its the same 4 teams in the Champions League, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. From Spain you always have Real Madrid and Barcelona and the other two clubs always vary from Villareal, Valencia, Sevilla and Athletico Madrid.

And when it comes to the UEFA Cup, you always have teams from Spain doing very well, and like the Champions League, the clubs representing Spain always change. In England you always have the same clubs in the UEFA Cup and very rarely do they achieve much.

This shows that over all, La Lega is far stronger than the EPL, despite the many millions more EPL teams get than Spanish clubs get...

Because we dont have Italian media shovelling "we're the best" down our throats every 5 minutes.

 

Can someone answer this, the EPL is the most watched league in the world. The EPL is based in England, why the * do the English media not have a right to call it the best league in the world?

But saying that, i honestly have NEVER heard it called the best league in the world apart from by fans. The media here really arent that biased, * the pundits and journos are full of Scots, Irish, Wesh, Italians and so on. You just have it in your head that the english media is constantly saying how its the best league in the world..
