Is that link still good? If so I will try to watch it later today.

I think that folks in Europe fail to get enough information on Asian football. Though most have heard of Nakamura and Nakata, few realise that those guys are just the few who had the interest and opportunity to go to Europe (Nakata only left Japan because his club went bankrupt, and Nakamura also might never have made the move if his club hadnt been short on cash and looking for a transfer fee).

Im especially interested to hear the comments from Alex Miller (who took over as head coach at Mizuno's old club). I heard on the publicity spots for the program that they interviewed him. It will be interesting to hear his impressions after six months in Japan.

For those of you who are not aware, Eurosport started covering J.League matches from the middle of this year, and they plan to continue next season (which starts March 7). According to their announcers the response has been great, so those of you who are interested should have a look, when the broadcasts resume.

And then, of course, theres always my website (shameless plug and link below)

I saw a couple of J league games and the technical standard is very high. I think we could pick up a lot of good ball players there. Its actually nicer football than EPL etc, very quick and skillful, less physical. I could see a lot of Japanese do well in the SPL where in general the players are less big and physical than the EPL.

You had it right to start.

Koki -- rhymes with "Low key"

The spelling "kouki" is just a direct transliteration from the japanese, and the "u" is there to indicate that it should be a -long- "o" sound rather than a short "o" sound (Imagine Santa Claus saying "Hooo hooo hoooo", rather than WGS watching a goal hit the net and shouting "hohoho" :86:

The reason why some people would add the "u" to the spelling is because Koki pronounced with a shorter "o" is also a boys name. If you see the name in Japanese characters you can tell which one is pronounced with a long O and which with a short O. But when writing in European characters, some people distinguish the long "O" sound by writing "Kouki" or "Kohki"
