Hinkel is improving, but one of the biggest qualities you need in a footballer is consistency. Has he shown that? No, he hasn't.

Hinkel has took a long time to settle but he was only kept out of the Sevilla team by argueably the best RB in the world.
    Can't be that bad.

Hinkel must be doing something right for this thread to have started...

As you say Bhoyyo, Yes he is improving, especially over the last four or five games. But, as for consistency? We'll judge that at the end of the season. It's too early to say...

Very good RB. Looks fully fit for the first time so the injury layoff did him good. I think he now looks as good as any RB we have had in the last couple of decades. I dont know what people are looking for who dont rate him.

in all fairness mate you can't judge him on who kept him out the team. if i had been kept out by dani alves would it make me a better player than if i was kept out the team by kirk broadfoot?

as i've said in another thread i think a lot of the reason hinkel took time to settle was that he had hardly played for sevilla for two years when we got him so he was struggling for match fitness as well as to adapt to a new culture and style of play.

i'm certainly very happy with him at right back, been one of our best players of late

The point i'm making is, he was bought for a very good side, only didn't get his chance because of the emergance of an incredible right back.

He is not hard enough, not strong enough in tackling.

what does that say about the rest of them then? dont think wilson played too bad. many times did hinkell have time and space to pick a man and it was either too high, too low or even worse out the park like the one in the first half.

in fairness i think beckham/naka/riquelme/ribery etc from a dead ball would have struggled to get our forwards on the end of a cross today, particularly in that first half. a few he put in i thought big venegoor would have buried

fair enough mate, sheridan and mcdonald aint the best of targets, still think most of his balls in were rather pish though.

I thought he was one of our better players today and he came closer to scoring than anyone else in our team.

He hasn't exactly been outstanding since he signed, but as someone else said he's more of a steady, reliable player. One thing is for sure though, he wouldnt have gained the amount of international caps he has for Germany if he was a BAD player. Not sure where we would get a better RB who would be willing to come & play in the SPL tbh.
