yeah i agree with the comments being made . And it seems clear that there is a demand for a standing area at celtic park. But what is the next step ? To get a petiton going and hand it into the chairman? To contact other scottish clubs supporters and unite in bringing back standing to scottish football matches?
otherwise it wont go any further and all that will happen is that someone will start a thread asking the same question in a couple of weeks time.

does anybody have any thoughts on what the next step could be ?

Good question. A united supporters petition from all 12 clubs would be a great first step. I'm not sure what the best way of doing that would be, though. Online?

Yes, though there are a few places it may be hard to go along with.

We could even get some Kerrydale members to help out aswell.

I don't see how people say it's dangerous. There haven't been that many incidents related to terracing, especially if you consider the amount of games that were played. And even then it's only a danger if you act the *.

Start petition here; PetitionOnline.com - Petition Submission Form

Run it by the powers that be on this forum and see if you can get it stickied, try and get it on other Celtic forums and then take it from there.

Wouldn't be that hard to get a significant amount of people behind it i wouldn't imagine.

i sent an email to the minister of sport of scotland.

    Hi,

I was wondering if theres any chance the laws regarding standing at football grounds will ever be changed.

I understand the reasons for having the all seater stadium in the past, when stadiums were in really bad states.

However, security and stadia has improved in recent years and a believe the time has now come for designated standing areas to be returned to football.

I have enclosed a link to a website that shows you this can be done in a safe manner, with the option of the stadium being returned to an all seater arena depending upon the occassion.

    http://www.users.bigpond.com/pengweeds/presentation.html

If we live in the age of democracy surely we deserve to have the right of weather to stand or sit at a football match.

    Yours Faithfully

Well, I suppose it'd only be Kerrydale, as this and Kerrydale are the two biggest Celtic forums in my eyes.

Problem is, who will be the messenger for the Rangers forums?

Yes, definitely. Although it doesn't really apply to me as I normally go to the family section. But some of my fondest memories are standing on terracing, it's a pity a lot of kids miss out on it.

So whats the plan? Will we start a petition or will we try to bolster an existing one? Is our best bet making this a uniquely Scottish campaign or joining a UK one?

absolutley 100% would love to see standing areas brought back.
In all honesty i can not see why they cant be brought back..safety measures and ticket purchasing are a lot stricter now than when terracing was in every ground.

I will never forget my first time in the jungle......it was 1991(i think) Tony mowbray made his debut against aberdeen and ...correct me if im wrong....but i think he hit the crossbar from about 25 yards,i was 11-12 at the time and still to this very day.....my debut in the jungle is one of the most memorable days in my life.

So im all for terracing being brought back.:50::50:

I'm more than willing to do some of the leg work here, if we can collectively agree on the best way of going about this....who do we address the petition to? What's the best way to gather signatures? Are we best trying to publicize an existing petition? Who's got the guts to brave the stink over at follow follow?:icon_mrgreen:
