great to have the greek berbatov back with his touch and finishing. fair play to mcdonald as well who is taking on a lot of the donkey work jan did last season. Its a thankless job, but someone has got to do it and Skippy has evolved to fill that role at the expense of his goal count. Sheridan was in the right place at the right time to put the game away and looks like he can handle the spl at this stage in his development.

I agree McDonald is working very hard recently during this injury crises if you can call it that

    Good 3 points!

The most pleasing aspect for me was the fact we had gears to go up when it was required. Thought Hinkel was brilliant and Naka at times immaculate.

Good game by St. Mirren. We had a lot of players and partnerships that have rarely been used today like our CBs our CM and thats the first time in months that CF parnership have played. We also knew some of the players were rusty/not match fit - Samaras (whose not got his first touch back yet) in particular but Robson and others too. He probably shouldnt have played but its good he got the goal and one more step to match fit. I am sure he played with geting him match fit for the CL game in mind. Unlucky for Sheridan who looked far more effective when he came on. We missed having a fully fit flyer like Shaun or Aidan starting.

Cant wait for a full strength settled lineup. Good thing is we would normally have dropped loads of points in an injury crisis like this but we havent and we will hopefully be back to full strength in a couple of weeks.

Our only approaching good performances today were Hinkel, Wilson and Naka today IMO.

Didn't see the game, only read about it but the most important thing is it's another 3 points in a tough away game and keeps serious presure on the Huns to keep up.....and we're not even in December yet :icon_mrgreen:

    Scrappy match.

Credit to the players for sticking in there despite numerous injuries of the last 2 months.

Our last ever trip to love street.

To commemorate it, the GB had a display celebrating our finest ever time at Love Street.

The banner says "SPIRIT OF 86" and the two sticks are our starting line up for that game in 1986.
And "Kidd 14" was for Albert Kidd :56:

That was good idea in the above post.:50:

I was happy with the team today and I also appreciate the way St Mirren played with 2 up front. They caused us a lot of problems at times to be fair.

I though McDonald was really good up front. His touch is very good just now and is playing much better than he started the season. Nakamura was obviously the stand out and Hinkel had a really good 2nd half. McManus also saved us a few times today.

with boruc back between the sticks there was a fimilar look to the back line. caldwell(heid) stepped forward into the midfield allowing room for the big welshman loovens to come in at the back. with big sammy back from the hairdressers he partnered skippy up front.

the saints set there stall out to frustrate celtic when they lost the ball and get at us when they did have it. on th 12 min mark the holy goalie was lucky to escape with a yellow card after charging out of his box and failing to win the ball imo the tv replays show the ref made the correct decision as the celtic keeper realising he couldn't win the ball pulled of the challenge.

at half time strachan told the bhoys to put the cigars away cos we had a real game on our hands. as the 1st 15 min of the second half came and went we where starting to wonder where a goal would come from then german cap hinkle blitzed down the right wing before whipping the ball into the path of big sammy one touch was all he needed 1-0 celtic! and off he went to the travelling support to show off his neatly trimmed barnet with form like this he'll have that l'orel deal he so despertly craves.

almost straight from the restart the hoops where menacing again smaras picked up the ball 25yrds from goal flicked his hair back before lofting a ball into naka he controlled with his right turned his man and finished with his left a great bit of play.

cillian sheridan finally got his chance to come on having been stripped for a good 5 min and it didn't take him long to put his mark on the game tucking away a chance created by mcdonald and naka. he may have angered some by choosing ireland over scotland in the international arena but his goalscoring is only endering him to the celtic faithful.

the saints did score a late concelation goal but it was celtic who took the 3 points to move 7 clear of the huns all be it temporarily.

That's what I was wondering... but I've seen people call him Welsh several times. I can't decide if people think he's Welsh or if it's a nickname because he came from Cardiff.

I don't think he angered many by choosing Ireland, given he's not actually eligible to play for Scotland. You don't think you might have gotten him confused with McGeady?
