Its one of the very few times I would agree with a yoonited fan. Being made to buy tickets for cup games is scandallous. Following them in a successfull would double the price of a season ticket from £700 to £1400.
I have a Manchester City season ticket where I have the choice of wether to buy a ticket for cup games. There is a points scheme to reward the most loyal followers to get priority on tickets should something silly happen and they have a good cup run and get to the final.
I have control over how much my season ticket is going to cost me (£500) and its up to me if I want to go to any cup games.

dont think we have anything to complain about tbh, fair play to the united fans for doing it though. its disgraceful to try and make them pay for league cup matches especially when united play their reserves in those matches

No wonder they are complaining half their fans are from Southampton the petrol money is enough on its own.

my mate has a season book for old trafford, costs him 1150euro a year, its a good seat(not up in the clouds like some, north stand tier3!) united have his credit card details and the money is taking off it for CL, and FA cup tickets, up until last year it was carling cup tickets too, he doesnt get to many games maybe 6 out of 18 or so.

United have a ticket exchange called viagogo which allows his seat to be put up for sale, being a good seat it usually sells and he gets a cheque 2 weeks after the game,

personally i think the man u fans are right(for once)

Since the takeover by the Glazer family in 2005, Manchester United's season tickets have increased by an average of just below 60 per cent. In addition to this, United season ticket holders also have to purchase home cup tickets under the Compulsory Automatic Cup Scheme under these inflated prices.

"In 2004/05, a season ticket holder in the North Stand Upper Centre had to budget to pay £532 for the season. For the 2008/09 season, the same seat costs £912 and the season ticket holder is forced to allow the club to charge him/her for all home FA and Champions League Cup matches. This could amount to £502, meaning that the season ticket holder must now budget for a total of £1,414.

"Whilst we accept that price increases are part-and-parcel of modern business, where a company such as MUFC exists in a dominant market position and there is no reasonably substitutable product available, the sheer scale of these increases is clear evidence of an abuse in contravention to the 1998 Act.''

The prices have "led to anger amongst supporters'', according to Duncan Drasdo, MUST chief executive, said last night. "Sports minster Gerry Sutcliffe was sufficiently interested in our complaint that he agreed to meet me to discuss this following his own outspoken criticism of Old Trafford prices.

"Although this is an MUFC-specific complaint it is clear that much of thecontent of the complaint is relevant to other clubs in the Premier League and beyond both in terms of ticket prices and terms and conditions. A Celtic supporter is taking legal action with regard to Champions League ticket bundling and QPR supporters have also made a complaint to the Football League regarding price banding and price rises.''

Whatever the OFT's verdict on the fans' complaints, the mere fact that Old Trafford season ticket holders have banded together, organised lawyers, and spent time and money putting a complaint together is an embarrassment to the champions.
