I agree. He is defensively suspect and I wouldnt play him in the rough games. Simon Ferry is back in the reserves and he actually plays a very similar game with a lot of forward passing. I would rather have a guy like him who we dont have to worry about having taken off us in a couple of years. If we trained him and he did well, played a few CL games over the next two seasons Barca may well fancy him as a cheap ready-trained backup player. In the meantime someone like Ferry will have got fed up and left/ not had his chance and we will be left high and dry. In a couple of years Hartley will defo be done too. I just dont like the arrangement where the better he is the more worried we will be.

Spot on, he's got the attribute that makes a great modern midfielder which is the ability to take the ball move it on and then get into space for the return. The master of it is Mascherano, if he gets anywhere near his level it would be to Celtic's benefit, even for a couple of seasons.

reckon the master of it is Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Xavi and espically Iniesta.

and they are all Spanish coincidentally.

Again even If Barcelona want to buy him back the player might choose to stay which would be kinda funny

He's a quality addition to our squad and can only benefit us. Even if he goes back to Barca he will have done us a good stint. Indeed if they take up the option to buy him back then it will only mean that even more talent could be coming our way even if only in the short term. If they, and other clubs, see that we can develop such talent then further deals may follow.

it pains me to say it but we have to face up to such realities. When teams like Hull City (with all due respect to Tigers fans) have greater spending power than us then we have to seek every avenue open to us, though that must include continuing to rear our own.
