I'd have killed the *, and he would have been grateful to go in such a way.

How is it a religious dilemma at all? * apparently punishes us for our sins, so Christianity clearly does not condemn punishment.

if it had been a "normal" fight ,a square go,if u like and your dad died during the fight,i would say you did the right thing,

but it wasent ,it was a blatent pre meditated murder,,,he was lured and executed,,i think i would have taken my revenge

if he was to have been caught and jailed for life u would have no sympathy for him,,so why now,

i wil say this though,,your mum must be some great woman to have carried on and brought you up to be the person you are,

    well done mum

First of all I'd just like to say that I have the utmost admiration for you mate and I honestly don't mean that in a patronising way. You lost your dad to terrorism and as you admit yourself harboured hate and revenge within yourself but when the time came, your humanity overcame every other emotion and out together with your training as a nurse you actually saved a life. That in itself is something very few people can ever say about themselves and for that fact alone, hold your head up high and keep it there mate.

Without knowing you or your dad, G*d rest him, I bet he's up there as proud as * of the person you became and the fact you were better than "them".

As for the person you saved, we can argue till we're blue in the face if he deserved your help or not but my own take on this is that you trained as a nurse to help people, irregardless of race, creed, colour or past deeds so in that respect you done your moral and professional duty. Again, be proud of yourself mate, both for being a good nurse and a better human being than the scum who took your dad.

All the best...you're a shining example to a lot of us :50:

You did your job and that is to save lives, it was human nature to think about doing otherwise but your instinct was to think of your family first and that is something i'm sure your father will be proud of you for.

I cant say anymore than has already been posted by other members. However i did want to make a contribution to let you know that your story has very much touched me, as I'm sure it has many others.

I dont think anyone could tell what they would have done unless they were in a situation like that. I would like to think though I would have chosen to do the right thing, which undoubtedly you did.

As has been said, I'm sure your father will be extremely proud of you. You have shown yourself to be a strong and rightious man. Indeed you should be proud of yourself.

I hope that you find strength from this, and my * be with you.

Well done mate, * bless you for what you did. You did the right thing and your dad will be very proud of you.

You will get your reward in heaven for what you did, as for the man you saved he'll get what he deserves when he dies.

    Once again, well done. :50:

Was he worth it? No. You, Sir, are. If I was half the man you are, I would be twice the man I am.

You are one of the good * my friend, the question didn't even need to be asked. If your father could be brought back he'd be the proudest man alive.

There's times I think to myself 'why aren't we as * to them as they are to us'. The answer is we are more human than they will ever be,you just proved that and good on you.

i just seen this mate and i'll be honest..it's a good thing that you helped him but i'd have let him die,i know it might sound harsh but if he'd caused me the pain that you've suffered then i wouldn't have thought twice

Jesus mate, i read this and first thought was "You should have let the * go", but tbh, i don't think i could let someone die, whether it was someone who i wanted to,or not.
I think you clearly have morals, which made you react the way you did, and for that, you should be proud and you will go to bed each night and be able to sleep soundly, and if justice is served, then he will struggle to forget what he has done.
That was a touching admission Belfastbhoy, thanks for sharing it.
