Its a good film. I Got it on dvd. If you think that wants to make you beat someone up you wanna watch Hunger. I Watched that the first day it came out in the pictures. Made me want to get an Englishman and cut his scalp off and wear it as a mask.

Yes but the film focuses more on the atrocities of the British Army in Ireland in the early 20th Century rather than the perception held by most folk today of the IRA as a terrorist organisation.

This film mainly depicts Irish brothers (with followers) fighting a guerilla war against the British Invaders AKA the Black and tans, the opening scenes are harrowing enough if you have seen them, perhaps you have not? and them themselves fighting amongst each other (the two brothers) after the peace treaty is signed so no there are no posts comdeming this film, you could argue the point that it is sympathetic to the IRA, but all in all its a very well made film, and defo one to watch.

    I know all that mate.

My comment was a sideways dig at some people who think on one hand, the IRA pre 1969 are angels, yet post '69 are terrorists.

It is a fabulous film and well made.

Ken Loach (Director) is a master film maker.....in my opinion one of the greatest EVER....only matched today by Mike Leigh..

If any of you have ever seen either of these guys movies you will know what I mean

Loach made another movie that should be watched...Land and Freedom

"Spring 1936, a young unemployed communist, David, leaves his hometown Liverpool to join the fight against fascism in Spain. He joins an international group of Militia-men and women, the POUM (Partido Obrero de Unificación Marxista). After being wounded he goes to Barcelona, where he decides to join another group of fighters. They remain in Barcelona and end up fighting other anti-fascist groups. David is disappointed and decides to go back to his old band." - IMDb
